philwright Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 My 88J slingy was filthy so i decided to give it a good wash with the pressure washer , like a twat i wasnt thinking and instead of just doing the wheels and swinger i got carried away and instead of doing the engine with a sponge etc i did the engine too, anyway now it wont start, turns over OK ,i've had the plugs out and there's no spark...wheres a good place to start looking at to check and dry out/clean first ? and what could the likely culprit be? Gixer1460 Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Likely culprit? - excessive water i'd say! All things electrical - coils, leads, plugs, CDI all suspects. Spray everything with WD40 - its actual real purpose - water dispersant and try tomorrow! Quote
philwright Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 Problem hopefully sorted, when I changed the wet plugs the HT leads had come out of their coils!...I'm gonna replace leads and caps and make sure everything is screwed in tight ,might even treat it to some dyna coils, are they worth it and would I see any benefits.? Gixer1460 Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 Unless the engine tune warrants a better ignition - then no! Quote
