efe oil temp sender

They are usually fairly indestructible - are you sure its 'goosed'? I think the thread is something like 1/8" NPT so any water / oil temp sender of that size should work although matching the resistances could be hit or miss? Have you tested the gauge as that is more likely to fail?

gauge is fine, so i assume the internals of the sender is at fault, tried it out and heated with a fag lighter then quickly screwed back in while still hot, nothing, connect the cable to it to negative and gauge responds as expected, tried on the bench and its open circuit @ 100 c

thanks , i have ordered one,  i have an 1/8th npt tap somewhere i will try it later on, if the resistance is off i will include a suitable resistor to give correct readings
