60Greyhound Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Hi all, quick question on oil cooler plumbing... standard coolers and a few aftermarket replacements have to oil lines into the top of the cooler, however most aftermarkets just have pipes straight into the bottom - do the pipes drain back when stationary meaning you have a delay for the oil to fully circulate the system on start-up with this configuration? I've got a HEL cooler and lines on order that is supposed to be lines into the bottom, just wondered if I should get longer lines with 180 degree fittings and flip the cooler? Quote
Jaydee Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Nope, doesn't matter which way the cooler is mounted. Basic physics, think of a straw full of water with your finger closing the top end. Water won't fall till take your finger away, same principle with coolers as the ends at the sump are submerged in oil. . 1 Quote
