GS1000 timing chain guide

Gents,

 

I snapped off that thing what is bolted in the center of the lower crank case, the timing chain runs above it.

Can I do without, or does it has a special secret purpose?

Yes I’m shure. There’s a point on the end of the guide that locates in the hole on the ally piece. If not there is too much pressure from the chain when running and it will fracture the steel piece of the blade where the bolt hole is.
