  1. What is the trick? impact wrench, heat, hammer, luck. any tips
  2. went with the 50mm mikuni stacks and the ram air filters.
  3. The plug I made has a hole. I did find that info on here somewhere. Flow seems ok, cooler gets warm and oil seems good to head.
  4. Thanks. I never really took a lot pictures during build. I would do something, ride it for a while. do something else, ride it for,a while. I never really sat down tore it apart and built it.
  5. I am using the stock oul cooler ports. I made a plug to block the passage to the filter. I did install a crankcase breather at clutch cover. motor is fresh , maybe it will get better. just not going to worry about it then. just keep my eye on it.
  6. Hey all. got the 1100 running good since rebuild. the question I have is how hot is too hot for the engine temp. I am running a Lockhart oil cooler with the appropriate mods room an add on oil cooler. 1170 wiseco kit now, temp gauge hits right around 240 f. of course it comes down a bit when at speed. but rises quickly in traffic. I am not really sure what it should be. I am using Maxima 10w40 convenational oil. what is normal for these engines? I live in Florida, USA and our summers are extremely hot. just now getting into riding season here and I don't want to cook my new motor. Cheers
  7. Are these just a 3mm difference from one side to the other? Iam trying to source something like this here in the states. From what I gather the OD on the 36 flats is 54mm. Now, these only need to be 50mm long, correct?
  8. Put them on the shelf and admire them. they suck. have had maNY sets. never got them to work. junk. the 4 pots are better. the 6pots don't even work with a 19mm brembo.

  10. Hey all. I need some new filter pods to go with my new flatslides. Should i stick with the single filter per carb or can I go with the double sized filter that fits over 2 carbs? Does the airflow differ? does it matter?

  12. Hey all. well, motor in. ran great. 1 lock nut from an intake came off. removed head, oil pan, oil pick up and filter. no luck. should I worry?
  13. Hey all. Just freshened motor. 1170 wiseco kit, valve job and racecut trans. Motor is in, runs good. It had a APE manual chain tensioner on it when I got it. I replaced the front and rear guides while I was in there. Question is, how tight should the chain be? The directions are impossible to do, it says to feel the chain on the guide through the tensioner. That doesn't happen. Should the length of chain between the cam sprockets have any play? I set it up with maybe 5 mm play in chain. Motor makes a whirring sound, not too loud, but noticeable. The noise follows the RPM's. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

  18. Hey all, my engine rebuild is moving along. Parts arriving daily. I want to add an oil cooler, but, finding impossible to find an EFE filter cover. Has anyone made the plug to go in the galley? If so, do you have the dimensions? From my research it needs to have a 2.5 mm hole in the center.
  19. Found a set of gears. Pricey but I guess worth it. Transmission gets shipped monday. The spares I bought turned out to be exactly what I needed, so we will make one good transmission out of 3. Question regarding squish. I have read where squish should be .8 -1.0mm. I have never done a squish test. I have built a few motors, never had a problem. Where would I get a thicker base gasket a if I need one? Can I use multiple base gaskets? I am using the wiseco 1166 kit. Thanks for all your help.
  20. The gears for the oil pump. Is it the gear thats on the outside of the pump? Are there 2 gears? Not really sure what to get for this mod. Thanks.
  21. So, then maybe just a 1166 kit and complete valve job. 36mm flatslides. No port and polish. Back cut trans and add gsxr detent spring.
  22. Here is the plan. Valve job with port polish work. Measure bores and probably go with 1168 wiseco kit. 36 flatslides on the way. Also will be back cutting the trans. Do these photos look like guides or just seals? The problem is only on 2,3 and 4 intake. Exhaust side is nice and light brown. My problem with trans is popping out of 1st and 2nd gear. I know the clutch is adjusted good, bike is only good for 7k before popping out. I am running a Lockhart cooler. Are the 750 oil pump gears really necessary for a street bike that will never see a race track? Top end oiler? What cams would be best? 340? 310? The big question, is a gsxr or efe head really worth it or am I just as well to work with what I got? Also, if I do the wiseco's, what would be the proper clearance for the pistons? Or is this measurement supplied by wiseco or suzuki? Thanks guys.
