Got them off Eblag eventually. not putting them in just yet as can't afford the bore and gaskets and everything will get them in soon enough.

That's the first thing on my list to fix, going to a hydraulic shop tomorrow to get a new oil feed hose. ill try and fix the leak then..... so happy it runs tho!! Didn't think it would start as easily as it did. Was worried it would flood or not start at all.

Just wondering, as the manifold is blowing a little, will it be ok to use for a few months while saving up for a professionally made one. As in will it do any damage or anything or will it be ok?? cheers

Hi guys! Update!! she runs!!! Little bit lumpy but she runs!! only problem I found was my oil feed for the turbo has a hole in it and was too long so wasn't feeding the turbo. manifold blows a little but is expected as it isn't a professional job. Will be saving for a professionally made one. Also turbo is slightly too close to wheel........ But takes a good jumping up and down for it to hit. Again professional manifold will be on its way.

I'll try and get some pics up over next few days of my manifold, almost finished it now, just done some silly mistakes with the bolt fittings, and with where it actually goes into the engine (trying to make it fit nicely so no air gaps) all lines up tho which is nice :-) hopefully when those 2 little bits have been sorted I'll be able to get it running before taking it apart again for the re-bore :-s

Ok, just wondering, can anyone recommend a cheap and reliable person to re-bore my barrels for the busa Pistons in or around the Derby area. What's the normal price for a re-bore??

Ok, I understand the do it once but right the first time, that is why I decided to do the piston change now rather than when this go wrong. I'll get myself a new 1216 gasket and oil seals and things. Mad you said it saves time and money in the long run :-) more things for the Christmas list.

I understand what your saying, obviously the standard one will be too big, was more thinking of the width (depth) of it, and some idea of which one I will need for the re-bored block.

Just wondering, when I put in the busa Pistons, will I need to change head gasket? And if so can I use standard head gasket or do I need special one to fit for the re-bore??

Sounds good to me :-) going to get this manifold sorted, then when Pistons come will get them in, then just a matter of if she runs!! Then just a trip to the dyno for set up and fingers crossed all will go well. will ask Santa for a lock up clutch for Christmas :-) but yer I'll hit him up and see what he says.

Managed to sort out a set of Pistons and rods for £50! They have only done 7000 miles. Do I use the busa rods or keep stranded?? will get them in! Will at least give me a little more peace of mind :-)

At the moment I have braided hoses running HH sintered pads, stop now pretty well! got 1 breather at the moment, going to get another sorted out eventually. put a shout out on wanted page to see if anyone has any gen 1 Pistons as can't seem to find any on Eblag and the local breakers doesn't have any (looked a little while ago) will get it done before dynoing and set up if I can find a set soon ish, otherwise will use it for a bit then do it :-)

Ok awesome! I will get that done then. i have fitted a Barnet spring for now but yes will be getting a lock up clutch eventually. Anywhere cheaper than Eblag?? Seen them for £385 on there....

Is it that easy then? Take barrel off, put Pistons on rods, re-bore and put back together?? Or am I missing something that is going to make it very tricky??

Looking at running 7psi at first, or less..... was I right in thinking the early busa pistons are an easy swap? Or can you suggest something else which would be cheap ish?

Hopefully will have the money for the forged Pistons soon, looking at going for the early busa ones as hopefully will be a fairly simple swap over :-) am I right in thinking it's just a re-bore and thicker base gasket?

Also there are things which I should probably buy for a good turbo set up, such as AFR gauge and lock up clutch and forged Pistons, but these are the expensive things costing about £600-£700 for them, so as I am not doing these I will only be running low boots so not to melt my engine. after saving up for these, I will then increase boost :-)

Yes, I have been very carefully with budget (being in uni) trying to fabricate and make everything myself, only thing I have paid someone to do so far is the welding for the plenum, the rest I am doing myself, but I think that's part of the fun of it. Fabricating the manifold along (if I wasn't doing it) could cost from £600-£1200 but I am self teaching myself to weld and bought a cheap tig rig to do it myself. So far so good as well but the proof has yet to come, not had it started since the start. Fingers crossed!

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you. so far, without including tools and stuff that I have bought, I'd say about £300. Its deffinitly been a learning experience and I'd say go for it as its been great fun. Not finished yet tho, just going through making the manifold, hopefully have it welded up over the weekend, going to be far from perfect but hopefully will work. Then just getting it on the dyno for set up.

Been a while since update. at the moment I have been preparing for the manifold fabrication. Unfortunately as I am on a tight budget (and a cheap skate) I haven't been able to get anyone to fabricate the manifold. Sooooo this is going to be my next challenge! Tig set bought, welding videos watched and going to give it a bash myself! (Pictures to come after practice) so hopefully have it started and running somewhat within the next few weeks. Any hints and tips on welding would be nice. Going to purge it all with argon for nice welds and strength. Also as I am in university this may take longer. Also found someone with a dyno who is very nice who will be helping me set it up. Man this project is teaching me many things and is an awesome experience. Again a massive thanks to everyone and all for the help and input they have given up to now! You guys are awesome!! Will deffinitly have to come to a meet some time to put a face to people's typing :-)
