  1. Hi peeps, some of you may remember a while ago i used to post here, was hacking around on a teapot 6 ratbike with a stage 3 b12 lump in.  Well I managed to kill it spectacularly, get pissed off with it, weigh it in and buy a *non oss* bike to keep me traveling :( 

     

    Time has come though where the OSS itch returns as always and ive got a few questions to anyone with knowledge of the GS1100G:

    1) what direction does the shaft rotate when looking from the rear of the bike?

    2) what is the overall final ratio of the engine before driveshaft?

    3) what rough height, width and length is the engine?

     

     

    The more on the ball will have deduced that theres some major motorbike fuckery about to happen if the answers to the questions play in my favour, I'll explain more on that if it does work out that way. :)

    Ive been loaned a shit old yam sr250 rat that i might pop up on to say hello if ive finished bodging the kickstarter back on by sunday. wont be putting that on the dyno tho.

    Unfortunately Im now not going to make it on this mostrosity, I stacked it on the way home from work and ripped the oil pressure switch out of the crankcases.... she is now KIA :/

  4. Cheers dude, im running bst36ss (stock b12 carbs) with a dj kit in but tbh im tempted to go back to stock, im not sure what the deal with emulsion tubes is though as every time ive tried to put stock needles and a mikkini jet in its been a pain in the arse and refused to play.

  5. Could I get a similar slot please tom?

     

    Also, do they sell individual dynojets? I have a feeling I may need to go down on mains as the 6/12 is averaging 25mpg at the moment so im hoping some dyno advice can put me in the right direction.

  8. Ive managed to get my hands on a cheap oil temp sensor and a gauge thats the perfect size for a hole in my fairing so I thought I may as well plumb it in. The sensor has an m10 thread and is fairly long but i dont mind sorting out an adaptor if necessary.

    I know the turbo guys like to use the oil galley plug on the right hand side underneath the ignition pickup, but whilst I was having a look down there I noticed a bolt going vertically just to the rear of the galley plug, seems to have a sealing washer on and from a quick glance may be m10 if im lucky. Is this something I could use to put the temperature sensor in or is there a better option?

  9. Check the microfiche for your particular carb setup but the bst36ss on my bandit 12 have one fuel inlet pipe and 2 overflows, you may be putting petrol down the wrong pipes. Also If its jetted for an airbox then dont be surprised if it wont fire up with open carbs, Ive had CVs before not lift slides with no box or filter.

  10. after a fair bit of pissing around with jetting on my bandit 12 engined fighter im almost done but Ive got a slight issue.

    Running DJ150 mains, Dynojet needles on 2nd clip down, pilot air screws 3 turns out. K+N dual filters, gsxr k1 ti headers and a shorty exhaust. Ive slotted the ignition backplate so I can dial in advance rather than fit an advancer but its currently set to stock. Recently serviced including valve clearances, carbs are spotless and have been static balanced with feeler gauges (will be doing a vac sync in the next few days)

    It runs like a beauty after 5k and pulls hard all the way to redline, Idles fine but Its got a flat spot between 3-4.5k most noticably when under 1/4 throttle. I cant seem to work out of I should adjust float height or mixture screws more. The issue is not noticeable at all when out on the open road as its rarely below 4.5k but when I get into traffic/stop start riding its a pain in the ass and I have to give it a fistful to get past the flatspot.

    Ive tried lifting the needle a notch and it ran over rich and lost midrange so Im pretty sure the needle height is about as good as its going to get.

    I wouldnt bother, I left mine off on my b12 engined 6 teapot and it made no noticable difference, I doubt it strengthens the frame at all as it wasnt dowled and the tank needed to go up half an inch at the back for me anyways for the petcock to clear the carb tops.

  12. Yellow, a mate of mine is sorting me out with another bank of carbs so im likely going to strip and sell these for parts seen as its impossible to find the parts to fix them. Let me know if you dont find any carb tops and i'll sort you out with some.

  13. Stripped it down, bent shaft and butterfly, the butterfly and screws are now trashed in the process of removing them too. Anyone know where i can get these parts without needing to buy a second hand carb set? Robinsons foundry dont seem to list them.
