Cheers guys, itl see a dyno when i get paid just to help sort the jetting out. I might check the cdi number next time im in the shed now though.

hi guys, my project is almost done now and im just sorting out carbs etc but im interested in what people think is a safe RPM limit, I know the ecu will cut at a certain point (not 100% sure what ecu i have) but im interested in what people would spin this motor up to:
GSX1100g bottom end and barrels (1127)
Dot Head
Powerscreen 1100f cams
4/2/1 custom header with minor baffling
36mm carbs with ramair individual filters
im just playing with jetting now and getting close but I dont want to grenade this build from over rev.
Cheers

this is why this forum is the font of all knowledge, cheers guys

Recently did a rebuild and my guy cc'd the head the DOT head volume was 22.5 ml and the 73mm 750 piston crown was @4.31 ml (probably within a whisker of a 1127 piston would suspect) at least give you a ball park to look at
There is a few sites that have calculators for CR some are different and come out with all sorts of different values but this one looks reasonable unless you want to work it all out yourself
Cheers chap, i must be having a brain fart moment though because I still cant get sensible numbers in the output, I keep getting 28cc total displacement etc which even x4 is obviously not right for an 1127cc motor lol

On the subject of dot heads, anyone know what compression ratio a 1127 with a DOT head would have? I'm building one and Ive been trying to work it out for ages but I need measurements of volumes that I can only get by taking the engine back apart.
-
Cheers McNasty, looks different though, GSXG has a fuel pump in there and some of the wires I can see on my diagram look different.

Can any oss gearlever fit on any of them?

Ive got a service manual for it but unfortunately the colour codes on the wiring diagram are illegible, Ive had a look at my gsxr11 service manual but the loom looks completely different.
Having a right bloody nightmare trying to find the coil wires and get the ignition system working at the moment, shame as im so close to firing up my project.

Cheers guys, a quick eyeball with a ruler comes up at 38mm. I think im going to try to clean it up and see if that helps first but im expecting a torn seal as it was sat dry for god knows how long.

Im working on a gsxg project and Ive picked up another slave cylinder to fit of an oilboiler motor but cant remember what its off, all was going well but the seal is nackered in it and as I dont know what year it came off then I dont know what seal to order, are the sizes all the same if I just get any oilboiler one? The one Ive got came off a casing with lots of holes in and the slave itself says FLUID CLUTCH on it.

That was my inclination too.
Would anyone hazard a guess at what bhp/torque each option would produce? Going to be running ramair/pipercross filters and fairly open pipes

So im in the process of my engine build for my latest project. Gsx1100g engine with a 88 750 dot head (r707 motor)
Im after a good spread of torque and midrange, Ive got the stock gsxg cams, the r707 dot head cams and also a pair of gsx1100f power screen cams to choose from. What cams should I go for?
Cheers

Anyone got any ideas of what bhp/nm i should expect from this? If my searching is correct then the powerscreen cams are pretty much the same as the stock dot head cams, and well an 1127 barrel is an 1127 barrel right? so surely my bhp/nm should be around the same as any 1127 engine running a dot head and simmilar intake exhaust? (going to be airbox rubbers with pipercross filters over the top and open ish pipes)
So all those assumptions gives me an idea of what to look for, can i find a dynosheet for an 1127 with a dot head and filters? Can i F**k
-
I suppose i don't know what I want from it until i see what the 'standard' bhp/nm is then?
I prefer torque over bhp after missing my old b12 engined teapot but as long as the stock timing will work i guess i'll have to dyno it then decide. Obviously I'lldo a few rotationsof the crank by hand first to make sure its clear.

Say i had a bit of a 'bitsa' style motor build, a gsx1100g with a dot head and gsx1100f cams, how vital is it for me to slot the cam sprockets and degree in the cams?
Im hoping for sensible midrange grunt without it?

Im rebuilding a gsx1100g engine, will any 1127 headgasket off Eblag do the job or do i need one specific to this model?

Pretty sure the teapot 6 and b12 are same length pushrods, i seem to remember picking the least fucked out of the 2 i had when building my old 6/12.
-
No worries man, cheers for the tip, ill get hunting. Is the slave the same as the bandit one if youcan remember?
Cheers

Nice buy dude, I was looking at that on Eblag but I got another stupid idea instead
@Swirlid be interested in carbs, clutch slave cyl and pushrod if youve got em still chap but im skint til the end of the month.

my last zook was a teapot 6 ratbike with a bandit 12 lump with dynojet stage 3, it was a complete animal.

Cheers Jaydee, thats exactly what I was looking for, ive just done the maths and my idea seems like itl totally work

I picked up the official gsx1100g Suzuki workshop manual for a mate. It a has a very detailed chapter on the drive shaft and think all the ratios were mentioned I.i.r.c. He's away for the weekend. I'll see if I can get a loan of it and take a few scans of the important bits.
Hi Jaydee, if you could find the gear ratios that would be ace, ive a feeling it'l be different to the gsx11 for 'detuned tourer' reasons.

Can anyone give me rough length /height /width of an 11/12 engine? Unfortunately i dont have any to hand at the moment

2nd/3rd gear should fuel the same as 5th so id run it them.
Actually id wait to see what the dyno bloke did as a gauge of his skill first then suggest a lower gear if he has issues.
