  1. compression tested on cold motor.

    I know it isn't ideal but 75 0n 2&3 is properly bad isn't it?

    Head gasket?

If head gasket is the issue is this something that is a GSX 'thing'? The cam chain tunnel seemed 'dirty'?

  2. So M6 and suddenly no go.

    Compression readings of 110 / 75 / 75 / 110.

top end off nothing untoward .

bas gasket weepy, carbs ok, fat spark,

filled compression chambers with oil, then petrol no leaks at all.

    any ideas

  3. I am sure that there was a conversion kit which used the centre stand mount as a linkage pivot.

Check google images or perhaps Streetfighters magazine might have some info?

Be a lot easier to go Ohlins 36P or Wilbers twin shocks and a Bandit 12 swingarm with lugs welded on?

  4. I used a standard GSX750F carrier and spacers. If you have access to GSF / GSX carriers you will probably be able to mix and match a fit.

The position of the rear shock mounts will affect tyre clearance and its a matter of a few mm either way. Some people find they have to shave a few mm off the carrier. The offset of the sprocket can vary by manufacturer. I used a Debben sprocket (3/8th offset) but you get AFAM or even custom make your own to suit.

  5. Hi Katanamangler

The cable is fine, lubed with ptfe oil regularly, friction plates are nearly new (EBC), steel plates aren't blued or bent, oil is recent and clean and clutch basket is undamaged.

The adjustment is fine until the engine gets warm.

I have an efe oil cooler and filter housing fitted.

    Is this normal?

  6. I had to ride my 1100 ET / EX in traffic recently and within a couple of minutes the lever was dangerously close to the bar and neutral was off for an early bath.

Is it just mine or does everyone suffer rapid clutch fade?

Is there any way of making it better or is traffic dodging a no no?

  7. My ET runs 3.5" and 4.5" 12o / 160 and is stable but handles fine. Tyres are easy to get and the conversion is reversible. 18" just makes tyres a hassle for no real benefit unless you need to conform to race series rules. Ground clearance hasn't been a problem but more confidence means more lean so you may find stand / collector / engine bars scrape when the devil on your shoulder wins..

You will need an offset sprocket (Debben) and 520 chain offers more gearing choices and an easier time with the chain run.

I found that the centre stand gets in the way and was relegated to the garage.

If you want to use the performance and make motorways a bit more bearable rearsets are an option but watch clearance for the brake rod between swinging arm and frame if you change the swing arm. Self contained hanger / pegs such as Bandit type with home-made adaptor plates make it easier to make it comfy but pillion pegs are a bit of a faff. RAASK type make pillions with even smallish feet difficult.

    Hope this helps

    Glen

  8. Cheers Duckndive,

Motor is standard so thinking about some later coils (900 / 1100 / 1200) with the advantage of coil wires not epoxied to the coil.

There is so much knowledge and experience on this forum and always given freely.

    Thanks again everyone.
