  1. Hi, wondering what the standard spring rate is, I’m guessing 0.8 kg/mm ? And are these seen as about right or do people tend to go lighter or heavier? The bike will have a b12 engine and a light rider. And, are these forks cartridge type? I’ve read that they are but also seen them listed as ‘cartridge like’ which I’m not sure about, or are they olde damper rods? thanks
  2. I don’t mean the differences in the mk1 and 2, I mean the 2006/k6 with the adjustable seat and the previous model. chz
  3. And… is there any other differences in the 2006 (ish) model that offers an adjustable 2 piece seat other than the seat itself? I checked the numbers and it offers a -0.2’ seat height but goes higher than the earlier model.
  4. Hmm, I did think that was going to be the solution. I’ve used dream machine once before, never again, dicked me around like crazy. Thanks Swiss, still loving the hair.
  5. I actually have an slabby 1100 swingarm on a shelf and 750J on a bike if you want to swap for a 750 slabby swingarm, but I’m after the longer 86> version. In case that works for you…
  6. So this is the list of codes, which I think is from the microfiche, but how do I confirm which are the correct ones…? Is there a map of chassis numbers to paint codes out there? Any ideas?
  7. And… so just to double check, the 750J slingshot REAR end, swinger etc, isn’t a slot in to the slabby frame..?
  8. Hi, I was given the attached pic via Facebook but RS paints say the following - -Marble soldier blue (pic powerful blue) -Pearl still white (pic Pearl cool white) They say powerful blue is only used with non metallic whites. The white names are also different. Any idea how I can confirm or I’m suggested to believe RS paints.
  9. Yep, I bought a non runner bastardised street fighter for a wheel and front end donor…
  10. Okay thanks, I’ll post some pics and numbers on ride height etc once it’s bolted up as I have standard slabby to compare it against. Looking for a 1200 bandit engine donor at the moment…
  11. Thanks, great info - I’m guessing that the 750 J(1987) isn’t a straight fit then… was kinda hoping it would slot in with the wheel etc as I have a whole rear end? I actually have an 1100 swingarm so that sounds like the best option from what you say, I have an adjustable rear shock so can play with the ride height. You also say that the 1100 link gives more ride height so good for the 17’’ wheel swap which I’m planning, but then I can’t raise the front to match, unless the 750J forks are longer..? If not it sounds like I’ll be raising the rear more than the front…
  12. Hi all, I’m starting a 7/11 project (7/12 maybe) - which is the best swingarm option in terms of geometry and strength for the 750 slabby frame - -GSXR750J (inc wheel etc) -Bandit 1200 swingarm - fits? -GSXR1100 slabby swingarm -Slabby 750 swingarm (don’t have one though…) I also have the bottom link from both a 750 and 1100 slabby to choose from, apparently the 1100 is a better ratio. The front end will be the whole lot from the 750J donor bike, I assume this is a better option that the 1200 front end (FB suggested 750J option as bandit steering stem longer). chz
  13. Chz, I’ve put a post in group “Restoration R” on Facebook and think it’s his page.
  14. Hi all, any idea where I’ll find the paint codes? Someone said these colours were used for UK 1100. Assume I need the white and dark blue as the rest are decals. The white is Pearl. chz
  15. Chz - I’ll use the whole GSXR front end, maybe the 6 pots, discs and mcyl from the bandit though…
  16. Chz, I’ll probably be back in touch once it’s underway… xmas project etc…
  17. Sounds good, I’ve actually got a slabby frame that I may use with a 1200 engine… I’ll be back on when I’ve found a 1200 doner… Out of interest, would you say the yokes/forks wheelsetc from a 88 GSXR750J are a better choice or use the bandit 1200 bits on a slabby frame?
  18. Hi, that was it I, read it on another post somewhere… I think I’ll just stick with the 1200 frame and go from there - thanks for the info. FB - Wondering why you’ve done such conversions in the past?
  19. Hmm, wondering about the seat heights then - guess it’s down to suspension, seat and tyres. I was assuming the 600 would have a diff frame… The following seem to be right based on a few sites. Mk1 600 Seat Height : 805 mm (31,7 in) Mk2 600 Seat Height : 800 mm (31,5 in) Mk1 1200 Seat Height: 835 mm (32.9 in) Mk2 1200 Seat Height: 790 mm (31.1 in) … & thanks for info
  20. I’ve seen another post which says that this will fit with a frame mount diameter mod. Someone also said about adjusting valves before it goes in which wouldn’t work for me so I’d like to know if it’ll go in allowing rocker cover removal. Don’t have a problem with the exhaust, loom etc as I’m assuming this’ll need work. So questions are - 1 - will it fit original model and anyone done it? 2 - Will it fit newer 650 model ? 3 - Will the frame need strengthening? I have visions of it flexing around the swing arm and headstock, if so can anyone suggest an approach? I’m guessing if the 1200 could have done with a lighter spindly frame that suzuki would have done it anyway… And yes, I know it’s a pain in the ass, and using a 1200 frame is a better option but due to leg length I’m looking into it as an option. Seen a damaged version of each at fair prices. Chz
  21. Okay, I’ll give it decent thrash and see what happens… Thanks
