how did you go about spreading the headers and bending the rear of the headers up under the engine?

I put number 1 in first and then number 4,then 2 & 3 just dropped in with a tug(2/3 are near enough the same spacing as the oil-cooled 2/3),then I pulled it up with the link pipe/can and my Knee wedged under the can while I fitted the strap :)
I have never once had to use heat on them or any major force. After a while they pretty much stay in that postion.I fitted the same headers to the srad, slingshot and slabby this way :)

One thing to remember,is to remove the centre brace on number 2&3 header ;)

Yeah, 750F is a short stroke motor sadly.

Not the 98 onwards, that went to a 750 long stroke.

And according to Bike parts-suz.com,the 750j/k and l all use the same.

  3. Well it turns out the powerscreen shock is quite long at  340mm,the 1100 shocks are between 305 and 310mm(My 11k was 305,my 1100ws Hagon is 310mm) I have fitted the sv650(It is the same length at 340mm),but I think it will be too soft for the gsx fatty. I can't re-fit the gsx one as it is knackered, plus it weighs in at 5kg(the hagon one is only 2kg)and I have put the tubby fooker on a diet :) The sv shock did bolt straight up though. Now,I am either going to fit shorter dog-bones and the hagon shock, find a 340mm decent shock or just fit the hagon shock,1100k swingingarm and linkage.Fitting the 100k arm and linkage would save a ton of weight because the powerscreen swinging arm is no hollow alluminium section like most arms.It turns out it is a solid lump of aluminium, try lifting it when the shock is out :oit weighs a ton(I will find out what it actually weighs) :o

  4. Sonny has had a couple,I am re-building his 97 at the moment.Firstly check it goes through the gears,as with nearly all Suzuki's,they don't like ham fisted wheelies. And usually end up with no second gear.

This 98 broke it's suspension mount on the frame. Nobody noticed until Rob Bean(Sonny swapped it with him for a slabby 1100)stripped it and found the crack. Also this was a German Import,so was restricted to 100bhp through the ecu(The French Imports are also 100bhp,but are mechanical restrictions, usually the heads).
    Picture%20015_zpstswjbvgz.jpg

And this one, where do I start,Sonny brought it and rode it for two weeks, then it locked up solid on him.I originally thought it was an engine strip and re-build,but it turned out that the starter motor was lose and had come adrift.I didn't find this out until after I had removed the cams, luckily I did because one of the camshaft C-rings was missing and the cam was able to move in the head.Luckily no major damage was done and I got it turning over again. This isn't really the bikes fault,it just hadn't been looked after.
Abit of advice,if it is covered in anodised alloy engine bolts, walk away ;)
The saving grace of this one,is that it has the suspension sorted with the R1 shock. It is really growing on me now and I'm trying to get him to swap it for my 1100k . I really do like big twins(I have had a couple of the underrated z750's and an xs650 with a halco 840cc)and from riding/borrowing my brothers ones,I would highly recommend them.I would llike to try a TLR(whisper it,and an SP1 or 2,I can dream)next :)

  5. I personally wouldn't waste money on jet kits,I have found they cause more problems than they solve, that is imo and I am sticking to it :)
I have got pretty good results from getting a rough idea of sizes from people on sites like this, doing a plug chop and then just a couple of runs on a dyno just to make sure it is bob on.
You will get better results from the ramair duals i put above.Speak to Yoshijonny,he'll tell you the same :)

Apart from the weight loss the net benefit of the swap should be more midrange due to the 4 into 2 into 1 arrangement, any draw backs to the swap?

I found no drawbacks,I only got rid of them(wish i hadn't)because I fitted a one off gsx1400 hi-level system( I sold the Ti headersto a freind for his srad6/7). When i ran it on the dyno,it made 136bhp with the 1000 system and was a nice spread of power :)

And just for the curious ones out there, this was the gsx1400 system(bargain at £70 :) ) on mine.It had a crossover section, that i had to chop out and blank off(it interfered witht the sump),so it was like the 2 x 2 into 1 sytems that were on the 750j/k.  I am going to try a 4-1 now, just to see what the difference is to the 4-2-2/4-2-1 systems(I know about the mid range differences, but want to see for myself.Never noticed much of a difference when i did it to my old slabby 750).I now have a Micron 4-1 from a Gsxr750L(yep they do fit, just need b6/12 sump)fitted.I also have a set of Marshalll 4-1 headers, that were off an 1100efe,that i modded to fit :)

  7. Slabby 1100(not 750,they are shorter) stands(and you'll need the slabby bracket) are longer and bolt straight onto the slingshot frames (I'll measure it later and let you know the difference, but you can see in the pic that they are long stands):)

On my 1100k(as i fitted the longer watercooler shock)i needed a longer sidestand, but didn't want to get rid of or chop up my chrome stand. So i made an extension from 20mm thick aluminium  :)

Del..... put some lube on that fucking chain :D

It's long gone,I think Tony had the frame and the rest went elsewhere(I had the arm),all he has left is the tank. Btw Sonny does not do maintenance :)

Just remembered the Harris rearsets went  Sonny's old TL1000S. So you could look at rearsets for those as well :)

    Cheers Del,

can you remember what the OD of the pipe is so I can source a link pipe/end can.

I'll have a search in the shed,i may have a piece of the old  link pipe kicking about.

The link pipe on mine was a Carbon Can Company 1000k5 link pipe and the cans were 52mm(I've used miron,ART and Harpoon cans) exit :)

Different part numbers but that don't mean they necessarily won't... ;)

It's lazy arse suzuki,so they rpobably will fit :)

Best person to ask is Steve on tlzone
    http://wotid.com/tls/content/view/36/57/

Or Sam Matthewman on tlzone(he was on tl1000s.com ,but i can't find the site anymore). He did the Interchangeable parts chart.I spoke to him a couple of times,he is a very helpful chap :) I am not sure if his email address, that is on the chart, still works :/

The ones Leblowski suggested are VERY good, lost of racers use them

I remember(my memory is not what it was :( )meeting(was watching Jobbins at Mallory Park) the old boy who made them, top bloke and the qualityof the rearsets is excellent :)

Scratch that,it was a different person,he made very similar rearsets though:)

  12. Short stroke 750 no,but the slabby and slingshot long strokes and 1100's yes :)
Mine pulled right up and had no need to use heat(and they didn't spring back when i removed them):)

    Then with the full fairing(Mine uses 750 bodywork)on :)
    Photo0530_zps9ociqiza.jpg

And then my Brother had them fitted to his 1100 with 750 full  fairing. I did need to trim a corner at the back of the bellypan, but that was more to do with the linkpipe :)

  13. Gsxr1000k1-4 and srad6/750 fit,you need to remove the thread from the mounts on the frame, then use nuts and bolts :)
I fitted Gsxr1000 Harris adjustable rearsets to my brothers 750l frame .

And Ady fitted DBR srad rearsets to his 750l frame.

  14. Swap over to Ramair socks, they work better than the k&n filters. I could not get my brothers slabby(1052 with bst38ss,started 0n 140 mains, but when dyno'd was down to 130)right on k&n duals,so swapped over to the ramsir socks with silicones bellmouths(or airbox rubbers, got it spot-on.Quite a few(John Oliver, etc) have used them and also got good results :)

They fit in the tighter spaces on the frames, they don't crunch up llike the k&n filters :)
