  1. If there is a tap with holes rather than slots, then that is the one for me, thanks! Mine is 50mm spacing but it looks like my tap will fit both spacings. Wonder how anyone is supposed to seal a slotted tap!
  2. Agreed, and using the bonded washers, but what stops fuel leaking down the threads and then outside the slots? The rubber part of the washer cannot seal against the slot. Maybe I have a dodgy tap with slots rather than holes?
  3. Got the standard tap bolted to my '79 GS1000 tank and it weeps fuel slightly. It is not in need of a rebuild kit, it just seems to track down the threads of the mounting bolts. I can see the problem, you have seals that stop fuel leaking outside the mounting flange, but the slots where the 2x mounting bolts go are totally 'open' so that fuel dribbling down the threads can find it's way through the slots. I have tried loctite 572 as that claimed it was petrol resistant, but still get a slight weep. Is there a standard fix for this?
  4. Delkevic, brilliantly good value but what a crap name! Hanging out for the Exhaust Craft, just waiting for Dave to take my money.
  5. I did read the rules and I like them. But couldn't find any reference to the GSX1400. I understand now though.
  6. Ah, injection, yes, I understand now.
  7. Yeah, lovely old air cooled motor. I like the oil cooleds too though. I have a question. How come there are not many mentions of the GSX1400 on this forum (well, in the oily section)? I have one of those tucked away which I won't be selling (the Kat taught me that) and it seems unpopular here. Is there a reason for that?
  8. Well, I really wouldn't call it an awesome Katana, just a nice one.
  9. Wouldn't you be sad? Anyway, it's always nice to see pictures of a Katana, surely?
  10. My last Katana, the best one. Sold 10 years ago, how I wish you were mine again.
  11. Looking good. What rear shocks do you use? I am after some standardish looking shocks for my GS1000 and they look good. Are they Ikon's?
  12. Will look into it then, thanks.
  13. Hi Jonboy, yeah, just for maintenance and tyre changes etc. Just loads easier, but you are right, I could just fit it when required. The Exhaust Works pipe splits at the collector though so might be a pain to split when it's been on a while.
  14. Think I am settled on Exhaust Works now, but what a lovely GS. Gonna keep mine relatively standard, but if I were going to mess with it, that would be a great look. Where's it off to in that crate?
  15. Yeah, that one is nice too. Does that ceramic coating actually work though? Does it stand up to riding in the wet? If so, I may have to consider getting the Kerker done, as the heat resistant flat black paint is fairly useless. I think Exhaust Craft is the way to go. Obvious really! Stop being tight and get on with it. I will have to ask if Dave can modify the bends to get the centre stand to squeeze in though, I would miss that even though I know they look ugly.
  16. Hey Bazeque, it was your post that alerted me to Exhaust Craft. I don't suppose you have mounted it yet have you? Dave sent me a picture of a GS1000 with your pipe on it but it looked very low, quite a gap between collector and frame rails. Lower than a Harris. He didn't think the stand would work with his pipe and he didn't offer to adjust it. Maybe I just have to ask! Have you heard yours yet? If it's anything like the good old Harris with comp baffle, I'm in.
  17. Wow, that GS1000S looks great and that is the Kerker I have. I have not fitted it up yet as I need the centre stand whilst I am rebuilding. I hear that the V&H pipes are not built very well nowadays and rot quickly through a British winter. Ideally wanted a black chrome Harris but they don't make them anymore. Is the seat on the GS1000S standard or have you had that cut down? I can sense that is going to be one of my jobs to do soon!
  18. Thank you chaps. Here is a pic from a few days ago. Still awaiting shims from Wemoto and now got 1 of the front calipers bolted on. Had to order a dust boot for the other one as the original was massive and I couldn't fit it back over the piston. The front end is all done so I start on the back end soon. Got a GSX1100 swing arm and need to strip the rear caliper.
  19. Can't make my mind up on which 4-1 to go for. I have a battered standard 4-2 system and just bought a Kerker 4-1 off the bay, but I fancy a nice stainless system too. I reckon the choice is down to the lovely Exhaust Craft Harris lookalike or the Delkevic straight pipe (it like the old Alpha I guess). Pro's and cons for both, I like both but the Exhaust Craft is twice the money and you lose the ability to run a centre stand. Anyone got experience of these pipes and which is the one to go for? Which one sounds best?
  20. Thanks Jens, I will get some piccies up soon. I bought a battered old Kerker pipe in flat black last week, can't wait to hear what it sounds like.
  21. Been lurking for a little while but recently bought a bog standard GS1000 and just in the process of putting her back on the road. Just going through it and sorting out problems and already found the Aircooled section useful. Not had a big Suzuki for a few years but feels like coming home. Always fancied a big 8 valver but always ran the GSX1100's 'back in the day'. Used to look down on teh GS's but now I am old and boring, they look very appealing.
