good on yi :tu another one hopefully about to be resurrected. We all have different approaches to how we 1st tackle such purchases  - opposite sides of the scale are

    1) take a punt - charge up battery, put some oil n fuel in it - see if it runs and work around the gremlins as they appear ( not my prefered method with a bike you don't know the history and has been left sitting for a few yrs - the satisfaction of actually breathing any life into it is often lost with the continual niggles and maybe cause for accelerated wear / damage )

    2) presume the usual niggles ( many already suggested ) - don't go mad and try and get it to run - off with the cam cover carbs and plugs - get it all nicely lubed up inc. a wetting down the bores - turn over by hand to get a feel that nothing nippy is occurring - then take each main part, one at a time - carbs / wiring / detailed engine service / steering head wheels and swing arm bearing inspection - brake strip and re seal - - etc.. etc...  a lot of work but worth it in the long run and can often be less work versus the hassle of quick fix gremlins - -and in this process you may uncover a big one ( damaged bore, rockers etc.. ) that will focus your direction before rather than after you invest a lot of time and effort

only downside to option 2 is project creep - as you fix / improve each part, the level of fix desired goes up - often resulting in upgrading / parts change - - --  how often do we end up doing this anyway ? - fix the std front end and brakes - then just as yir doing the final brake bleed - och you decide bugger it, fit a different front end :) -  ok now needs the matching rear wheel = diffrent swing arm and on - and on - 5yrs later you may get bike of month :tu

    Thanks nlovien!

I'll tell you what I want to do.

After taking the bike to my garage I will clean up the carbs, the gas tank, change the oil, the air filter, the plugs, charge the battery and fill up the tires. After that I will try to turn the key on and see if the control panel works, if it works a little bit of oil into the plug holes and a couple of days getting wet, move the engine by hand, see if the plugs have fire and if everything works (I know it will never happen) try to turn on the engine.

After all of these things I will try to get the bike running as it is right now. In Spain MOT is horrible and changing the front end will be incredible expensive just for getting the papers so... I will try to avoid these changes but who knows...

    Hi no class!

In fact I bought it yesterday. Well, it's still not in my garage cause we have to do papers and all that stuff but the current owner told me that it's mine so... There's a new owner in the forum

    Welcome!!

Don't worry about electrics everything can be repaired and ones you repair you learn.

Thanks! in fact I do worry about electrics, I'm completely useful with that. But I won't say no just because of that. It deserves another opportunity.

its an old suzuki which have a huge fan base....lots of guys on here to help and advise....buy it.... half the fun is getting it how u want it stock or modified....let the fun times begin... and welcome

I would like to modify it but the laws in Spain are really restrictive. Just an example, if you want to remove the airbox and put direct filters you need an engineer and a project for passing the ITV (our spanish MOT) O.o

To add further to Askamaskinservice's post: pdf of a service manual.

    Further webpart sites:

    https://www.cmsnl.com

    https://classicsuzukiparts.nl/

    and of course Eblag..

Well.. what Blubber said on the electrics, so the charging circuit is flawed to put it mildly. Readup on this section of the forum to find the info you need. Starter clutches are a weak part too, especially after many years suffering from weak batteries. I have a personal hate for the stock CV fuel tap (swap for manual operated one), and the airbox missing on your bike is a pain to remove/install (main reason for using filter pods).

Is it fast? It used to be the "Hayabusa" of its day, but today it can still be (very) fast if you want to invest the time and money..  But I'd invest in upgrading the chassis first, as that has dated the most performance-wise. So suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres.

Incredible useful arnout, that's exactly what I was looking for

I'm afraid about electrics. Mechanical stuff is ok for me, I can fix things but electrics... my brain came without that part :(

Great web, there are several models in fact so we can choose the right one.

I would take a good look inside the fueltank. Ten years not using will take its toll when not stored well.  But 600 euro's isn't much and everything can be repaired. I have a set of sidepannels indeed for a lot less then Eblag and you have to paint them anyway.

In fact I tried to but the lock was stucked and I didn’t want to Force it.

  8. Wow!!! What an incredible welcome!!!

It looks like there are a lot of mad people here, I like it :D

The register number for the bike is: GS110527027

I do not know if it can be useful to know if it is a ET or a EX. What are the differences between them?

  9. Hi everybody,

First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Nacho (yes, like the mexican food ) and I live in the sunny Mallorca, Spain.

Some days ago I saw a bike and after talking to the owner he told me that is on sale if I want to buy it. I am not a suzuki oldskool expert so I need some help from you.

This is the bike that I'm talking about:

    IMG_4127.thumb.JPG.f0041666a13d68d932e4fff8823db71b.JPG

All I know is that it's a suzuki GSX 1100 from 1982. The owner says that it's a GSX 1100 EX but I'm not sure about that and after googleing it I saw that there are several versions of this bike. How can I say which model is it?

Next question is: As you can see the airbox filter and the side panels are missing, any special web to buy this parts? In spain this bike was not sold a lot so... I am completely lost.

Another question: any place to download a PDF with the deatiled parts, the manual, the haynes or whatever?

And the last but not least question, anything to say about this bike? is it reliable? is it fast? any common fail?

    Thanks in advance! ^_^
