  1. shamelessly stolen from elsewhere.....for the greater good  :tu

It's been noticed recently that a lot of people want to know what calipers are a straight swap to upgrade their bikes with no problems, and without having to go to the effort of making up a set of adapter plates.

So if your bike is listed in the same section as another bike below, you can change calipers without any worries.

For ease I shall just call the calipers type 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

    1 SUZUKI
    Bandit1200, GSX1000R, Hayabusa, GSX750, GSX750 Katana, GSXR750 Slingshot, GSXR1100L, GSXR1100M, GSXR1100N, GSXR1100 Slingshot, GSXR600 (2001 model), GSXR750WR, RF900R, RGV250, RGV250M, TL1000R, TL1000S, Bandit 400 (twin dics model, all years), GSXR750 SRAD (95-99), GSXR600 (96-2000)
    KAWASAKI
    ZX6R (2000 onwards), ZX7R, ZX9R (96 onwards), ZX12R, ZRX1100
    TRIUMPH
    Daytona 595, 505, Trophy
    YAMAHA

    5 SUZUKI
    GSXR1000 (k3 & k4)

  2. hey guys,

been hassled into helping a mate piece his bike back together after being sat in bits for too long, he cant remember where most of the bits go and iv never looked to hard at one of these so we're both useless xD

anyhow, to start with i want to make sure the loom/cables etc are correctly placed so that when the bodywork comes back from painter it will fit on without anything being in the way,

does anyone have a pic showing how/where the loom fits onto/around the frame ??

i not sure if its an efe, an ef or what it is so .....

Wouldn't use one of them for that purpose - Intermediate duty cycle means it would likely overheat or seize if used continuously!

thankfully its been sound since i swapped the turbo,  i hadn't seen that tho so cheers for noticing  :tu

Any closer to sorting the problem out bud ?

turbo was fecked bud -  little update here......

it only took about a mile to kill the chinese turbo, wouldn't mind if it had seen some abuse but i hadn't left our lane lol !!!

but with a crappy old s/h turbo its been fine, boost's well, no oil - fixed

put the bike into the van to take to mot station and as soon as we strapped it down it blew both fork seals - it just doesn't wanna be used lol !!!!

is there any way to tell what i have so i can order seals as cant have the bike sat around in bits if poss whilst waiting for them to arrive ??

    pics if any help.....

  6. thanks for the input guys, maybe i was just being tight and trying to use left overs but iv decided to push the boat right out there and bought 1 fitting that  i at least know will work with the hose i have,  if it hadn't have been for the head cooler, thus easier to get to, id prob chance it but its a pain in the dick to remove the tank now so would rather it was deffo right 1st time

    cheers again

  7. i spose this could have gone anywhere but......

im using this type of hose.....

    d9pCSiY.jpg

and i have been using this style of fitting for it....

    cwHVRmA.jpg

however, im in need on one odd 90 and found one of these in my box of useful stuff....

    odWlDvQ.jpg

will that ^^^^ fitting work with that hose or are they only for the braided stuff ??

    cheers  :)

  8. along with the other many, seemingly endless issues with my project another has become evident, was prob always like it but only just realised !!

i left the drain off the turbo last night and put a jug underneath it and it has collected quite a bit of oil overnight,  will look into making a little sump to go under the turbo to catch some of this but i assume its time to look into one way/ check valves

does anyone have a pic or link to something i need as had a look online and very quickly became unsure of what i need to get O.o

    many thanks as always :)

Braze over - use someone local or DIY solder could be an option?

my father in law sealed a tank for me that i had welded a bung into but couldn't quite seal,  couple of minutes and it was sorted using his plumbing torch and solder, not sure what flux he used but the tanks been fine for about 6 years now

Are the engine breathers clear ?

yes bud, the r/cover vent is open and have another breather in oil filler hole,  both are clean with no trace of oil

the air filter/compressor side/ up pipe etc are also clean and dry,  dropped turbo off header to make sure it wasn't coming from the engine and thats all good -  its just the exhaust side

  11. iv ordered a smaller jet to try but i'm not hopeful it'l be the cure,  also looked at the banjo bolt at the scavenge line/alternator end and drilled out the 4 little holes in that incase that was maybe a tad restrictive

have spoken to the guy who made kit and he thinks it could be a scavenge issue so i need to look more in that area, although as said as its ok at idle/low revs its hard to check too much,

have pulled the drain at turbo and run motor for 30 seconds into a jar, then done same with the scavenge line and looks to be the same amount but cant repeat the test zipping up and down the lane lol !!

never had this problem when i turbo'd my blade and on that i didnt even use a restrictor jet in the feed or a scavenge pump (although the turbo was rather low) but did use a genuine turbo off a volvo (iirc) so maybe thats all it really can be

iv been looking at new cores on Eblag but cant even be sure they will fit a knock off Chinese turbo so reluctant to waste even more cash on it.............

  12. both me and the turbo !!!!

suspect its shafted but thought id see what the opinion on here is..

    1100 slingy

    chinky td04 13t,

    1mm jet in feed line

scavenge pump fitted same as everyone else seems to do, working and returning oil to top of motor near alternator, but iv nothing to compare it to so dunno if its weak or strong

ok at idle and low revs, had a little blast up the lane today and left a smokescreen behind, returned to base and r/h/s of bike and my self speckled in oil

it boosts fine, theres no horrid noises, it just cant hold its oil  ?

oh, and its now got a slightly warped disc......overnight that happens apparently as it was ok yesterday xD

  13. cheers guys :tu

ill see if i can blag a 16 row cooler, then i think i could mount it with fittings at bottom and still clear the header,

it doesn't help that my present cooler had M22 outlets so had to get adaptors which add a bit of height,  a cooler with an8 fittings, a couple of 90 fittings and it'd prob clear,

will see what comes along  :)

  14. been ages since iv been able to hobble out to garage to do anything,  i woke up feeling pretty good today so spent a few hours out there but thinking iv made steps backwards !!!!

fitted new oil cooler and lines and amazingly the bottom yoke hits the fittings on very much less than full lock !!!!

needed to lower the whole lot so knocked up a spacers/threaded bar mess and ended up with this .............

    U7aFb8U.jpg

    04P6d3R.jpg

its now clearing the yokes but imo looks shite !!!! but it will have to do until i can get back to work and earn some cash

but the niggling issue is that, looks aside, the cooler is now below the header......... will this cause any probs  ?????

    cheers
