  1. A little tip mate, take lots of pics as you take things off, get some zip-lock bags and mark them up with what you put in them, and as previously mentioned - get a manual. I’ll second ST - ask questions
  2. Swiss Toni’s advice is good mate. You need to eliminate things in order, making sure everything is clean and in good condition is the right place to start. Anything could have happened to it in two years, you can’t take it running well ages ago as a sign of anything.
  3. You learn something every day! Cheers, and good luck with the project
  4. With your beard? Welcome, by the way!
  5. What’s the crack with the “under 21” on the numberplate? Is it a legal thing?
  6. I blame the Septics There are people around here who would feel obliged to throw the 50 off a bridge if they came across one. That said, I can see their point!
  7. Do you mean a 600 or 750 Katana?
  8. Not a million miles from Bedford - Cooperized in Feltham.
  9. Thanks peeps Yes, photos of bike will be forthcoming when I grab some. The other one I was allowed to keep (but possibly not now) is from another Japanese manufacturer beginning with H that some may have heard of No pics of me until I’ve been to Old Street to get my moustache waxed and my latest ironic tattoo is finished Fear not K.H.I, I used the wrong term, it is in fact the endurance racer look I’m after! I did actually laugh out loud at your summary of cafe racers
  10. Hi everybody, joined the forum ages ago, but never posted. A house move has prompted a clearout of bikes, but I managed to persuade the Mrs to let me keep two... One of which is a rough (and I mean rough) GSX550. I can’t get rid of it because I feel sorry for it, frankly (and also because only the scrap man would buy it) Plan is to make it into something like one I saw on an Italian website in JPS colours in a kinda cafe racer style, but not in the same colour. Seen some really helpful posts here already about front end swaps, so that’s a good start! Disclaimer: I’m about as far from a hipster as you can get, I’m doing it because I drooled over the finished one I saw!
