  1. Yeah I’ve found that out.

My cams and rocker arms are badly worn and pitted. Still made 132bhp on the dyno though :S

Dyno man reckons its heat damage rather than lack of oil.

BR Special Tuning can re-grind them for £275 plus postage. Rocker arms new from Fowlers are working out about £36 a pop :/ x 16.... Not good.

Something needs to change, be it a head with the inners or just the cams and rockers.

Does anyone have rockers that would fit??

  2. They are my own velocity stacks. Designed by me and 3D printed by my mate. Went through a couple of designs and versions. The blue ones you see was a prototype. Ended up makin 15mm short ones recombined by the dyno tech. 3D printed in nylon. Very strong and light.

The foam filters are ram airs, £25 a pair, only lost 1hp with them on, extremely efficient and cheap enough to buy each year.

The bike done 130.5 bhp at the rear wheel, full yoshi cyclone system, 38bsts with the power jet circuit blanked off and the stacks. Dyno man wants it back to sweeten out the low end (very rich pilots) and advance the timing for some more horses :)

1100 motor is no difference in a 750 chassis, 38mm are the same body as 36, 1100 M chassis is the same as 750 88. Shouldn't make a difference about fitting a heatshield.

My carb tops rub against the frame and the choke pull rod + brackets nearly touch the engine. 1991 motor 1100, 1990 750 frame, 1991 38bst carbs. All very tight, should see what I have to do to get them in and out. lol

You can get self adhesive thermal sheet on Eblag, its for lining fairings. Really good stuff, get the heatsheild fitting how you want then stick some on, bit of trim round the edges. Pretty much the same as Yoshi ones then.

Aye you can see I did that on the original photos, nae bother, looks trick enough!

The heatshield you mentioned from SF services fits well on my ‘89 750. You seem to have a combo of 1100 motor, 38mm carbs with a 750 frame. Understandably it needs some mods imho. The shield needs to be trapped behind the clips, I trimmed the slot for the throttlecable drum a bit wider and that’s it.

Yeah there is very little clearance from the carbs, I will post some pictures when back in the garage, my carbs also have the idle screw coming out the side so I may need to change that / cut the shield. Will get something sorted :)

That yellow Perspex looks pretty cool, I may need to make a similar cut out shape on the middle 2 carbs to clear the engine. Possibly not with the flex though, will deffo be using a heat gun.

  6. Hello all! What a mess. Me and Simon have been messaging back and forth on Eblag with no problems and mutual respect. I was in no way slagging him off or his shield, I was referring to the “moulded” bit not being very good. NOT the shield itself.  On my original post I mention that my bike being a 7/11 with 750 carbs, and that nothing may actually fit. I have to mod / adapt everything to fit the stuff on my bike. ( the latest being an oil cooler kit)

I was literally in the garage taking some measurements for another shield that Simon is insisting on making for me, free of charge, his choice and even after me saying I would feel bad if it didn’t fit and he’s made me another one for nothing. I said I would give him positive feedback and never wanted to give him negative feedback spoiling his 100% on Eb4y. I also said I would mention him on the forums ( which I’ve came to do just now) and seen all of this. I simply wanted to share my “project” with a yoshi heatshield and post the dimensions, findings etc for all to utilise. I know I have a good understanding with Simon the seller, and his shield, and have not done anything wrong, I wasn’t even trying to get money back, freebies or slate someone on a forum behind their back. As I’ve said many times nothing really bolts onto my bike and I buy everything knowing I can’t get a refund / freebie but I always have communication with the sellers because they’re genuinely interested in their product working and have helped getting it to work. Even if I have to further mod or buy additional parts which I know I may have to do before buying anything.

Apoligies if anything’s being breached or if anyone’s upset.

  7. Yeah, it’s not too good is it :/ It’s inspired me to make up my own, would get it laser cut and everything. I’m handy on the computer making cad models and vector files. Will update this at some point using my own template and design.

That metal one looks pretty cool! I would be worried with it chaffing on things though :o

  8. Wondering if someone could help me out with a drawing / measurements of a yoshimura heatshield for a slingshot framed say what now!?. It is a 7/11 (1991 1100 engine, 1990 750 frame and 1990 750 38mm carbs)

I understand that this may not exist and trimming / adjusting would need done.

i have a reproduction one made by sf services. Tried trimming a few things but just can’t get it to fit right. Seems there’s a bit with a moulded shape to it that just won’t go flat against the engine stopping the carbs fitting :( These are made from old plastic containers so must be a corner bit.

Anyone know a material to use? I have plenty of heat proof material and edge trim. Thanks!

  9. Nice one Jaydee, you got a build log going? Really intrigued.

I have a brembo rcs 19 hooked up, massive improvement, want more though haha. I just don't want to throw ktech piston kit and springs at the forks and change discs, maybe callipers where I could have pieced a front end of modern stuff with more scope of upgrading.

It's a 7/11 naked with a k5 rear shock so I'm not too concerned with keeping parts standard or period unless the forks would really perform being reworked?

Thanks again for the replies guys, heavy appreciate them. :)

  10. Been searching across different sites about swapping modern forks into the yokes. Want to use radial calipers and 320 discs with better suspension. Thing is my bike has a custom top yoke with risers for fat bars all made to standard 750 1990 spec. I would like to keep this if possible? I've thought about sliding in k6 forks into the standard yokes and using different wheels/spacers to make up and clearance? Any advice would be appreciated, can give pics /  dimensions if needed. Cheers :)

  11. Just wondering what kind of jets and exhaust/filters people are running? Got a bad misfire low down and into mid but clears right up past 5/6 thou and the bike pulls like a train, sometimes wheeling and going light on the front. Replaced plugs, plug caps, ht leads, coils, a leaky inlet rubber, valve clearances checked, just rebuilt the carbs replaceing some o rings, nothing is worn or broken. Running Vance and Hines super sport system, the stock air box rubbers with ram air foams pulled over them. Has 144 main jets and 40 pilots. 2 turns out on the mixture and bottom notch on the needles. Bike is a 7/11 appears to have the 750 loom. Not sure if the cdi is different between 750 / 1100?

    Any help much appreciate. Cheers.

Oil boilers  & Air cooled Motors use the same spline ...so loads to choose from...

They tend to be steel on air cooled motors  efe uses one same as you 1st pic but steel

    Cheers. :)

Do you know of any after market ones, so I could use a male rose joint? I'm also trying to get a little gap from the frame when I run it in race shift pattern.

  13. One of the left float bowls is leaking. it has had 2 patch jobs on it. i suspect someone in the past has tightened the drain bolt too tight and cracked it. Anywaon know of spare bowls or different bowls i could use on them? I have attached photos, not 100% sure on what the exact model is. They are off an 1127 motor.

    Thanks.
