  1. @Oilyspannerso you would recommend the jmt lithium ones? I’ve bought one but was second guessing using it as someone told me he had a customer bring one into his shop that had swollen and started smoking, I’ve bought a gel equivalent in size just to see if that would power it to

  2. I’ve been looking at changing to gel battery but need to cut down the size of possible but the only way is to get a battery with lower spec cca and ah, what’s the lowest you could go to really and still run the bike properly or do you really need to get the same?

my 92 750 battery is a lot smaller at 180 cca I can’t see why that wouldn’t work as it’s a similar bike but could you go any lower?

    would a r1 battery work?

    cheers

  3. Lol are the lithium ion batteries unsafe to use? I’m still feel a bit dodgy about them as I know the rc car ones have known to be a bit unsafe.

i would rather a gel as I’ve always used them but don’t think I have the room under the tank

  4. Not sure about gel but I’ve bought one of those lithium ion ones it’s for the 92 gsxr as for some reason 90 gsxr equivalent was bigger but thought I’d give it a try anyway, it’s tiny tho, haven’t been able to start the bike yet tho as it’s not ready but accidentally hit the start button and it did turn over.

  5. I recently bought some new tyres for my build and I just went ahead a bought the same size that were currently on the bike from the previous owner, the rear was a 180 and after having a closer look there isn’t a lot of clearance between the edge on the tyre and the chain, it must of been ridden like that and I rode it for a few days before I rip it apart.

i just wanted to ask if the 180 is the standard tyre size and if not is it ok to run it or does anyone on here run a 180 on there’s?

    cheers

  6. Sorry for another post but I need to relocate my circuit breaker on the Gsxr 750 1990, is there anything I can buy to replace this circuit breaker with? I don’t just want to cut the wires and reconnect to the stock circuit breaker as it’s a weird shape and I can’t really fix it anywhere.

is it just a case of buying a 12v circuit breaker with the same amp rating?

    cheers

  7. I’ve been trying to find a location for my battery on this build, with space being really tight due to the look in trying to get I thought about making a box, cutting out a space in the back of the tank and welding it in so that the battery would be fixed to the top of the frame and the tank would then sit over it, I thought it was a good idea but was then worried it might be a bit too unsafe? Maybe the battery would cook and blow the tank up or just get too hot or spark off something randomly lol, I’d line the box with heat and fire resistant material and then enclosure the battery terminal area with delrin or rubber.

Just wanted to ask if anyone’s done similar or if you think it’s a bit stupid?

i know I’d loose petrol capacity but I don’t mind about that

  8. Thanks again everyone, I’ll post some pics on Sunday when I get back to the bike, does anyone know what that baffle thing inside the tank does? That’s a great idea johnr that would be the best way to fix the problem I think, do you know what type of pipe would be best to use? Not sure if it looked like stainless?

If I sleeved it would you use jubilee clips not sure if that’s a good idea tho in case the cake loose lol

    cheers
