I thought that. If the valves open it cant hydraulic lock as the fuel will not be contained -

cam timing was spot on - my first thought, it did smell of old fuel in the bores maybe it did hydraulic lock - dont know if that would bend valves but ive seen bent rods from it -

Most suzuki forks will fit but dont forget if you are going 17" front wheel you will need longer forks like gsxr1100 as opposed to gsxr750. There is a fork comparison chart on here somewhere and google have a look for the longer usd ones. Cant post prices -

Yep the later550 uses the same bearings as some of the usd forks but as you sayits stem length that differs.i have no idea why stem swaps are risky. When its all bolted up where can it go as the forks will hold it together, we have done loads eithou problems.Ive got some spare gs500 front ends as ive put a 750srad one in my gs500 with gt500 engine. -
head, swinging arm and wheel bearings are the first thing i would check

i have put a gsxr750 (m i think) front end on my gs550 spoked wheels busa calipers and custom discs - had to press the stem out of the yoke and swop them over. i put a mechamax swinging arm on mine from a gs1000 with 5" spoked wheel ive stuck with 18" at back and front -

no marks on pistons the tops were quite clean - i thought a missed gear at high revs but why that combination? im confused!! -
just bought a non running gs550 for spares , no compression at all. can see daylight through all inlet valves. when head removed and shining a light over valve. when taking all valves out we found 4 inlet bent and 2 exhaust bent. valve timing was correct cam chain tension was good how has this happened? i dont have a clue - its only going to be used for a spares bike i would like a postmortum

i put a slabby 750 lump in a gs550 frame, just needed new mounts making up - had to take the breather cap off the engine to get it in the frame then fitted it once in, twas a tight fit!!
