    wobbles !

thanks for the great info blue dog , the shocks were about 4mm shorter than the standard ones but are stiffer as i ordered the heavier springs so it looks like i have steepened the steering angle to much , i might go for the standard spring rate ikon spring. the shocks are great as when you hit a hole in the road, it jolts the front forks and then you wonder if you have even hit the hole with the back wheel as it just soaks up the bump , very impressed.

    wobbles !

thanks for the replies fellas, i have tightened up the swing up bolt, greased up not long back with the head stems , uped the tyre pressures on 2 new tyres , not matching but work very well on another popular Japanese motorcycle starting with Y, nipped up the head stem bearings , adjusted the chain so the wheel is straight , put a string line from the front wheel to the back to check alignment , wheel isnt buckled , bike has only done 3000 miles from new as it was stored for 35 years. i have fitted IKON shocks that seems to have made it worse ? as the standard shocks 2 up had us scrapping around corners with out riding mental, and as i have mentioned loaded up with gear and the wife there is no problems with wobbles?? we, me my son and a mate are off to germany in the afternoon to do a dam buster tour so see how it goes. it will keep me from going stupid at least . cheers chris

    wobbles !

I have a GSX1100 et and at speed 80+ it gets a wobble or more of a weave going , it's controllable but not cool , my son was following and he noticed how bad it is, with the wife on the back and its not there ? is there any set up tricks for these old girls ? (not the wife) cheers chris

    ET tanks

bought a big tank last month on fleebay , brand new from finland £350, nice ,he has 3 more. but straight to the paint shop ! and yes , when i put the big tank on it completely changes the bike for the better, the bike looks much longer with the smaller tank. i use to sell them new in australia at a suzuki dealership, they first arrived with the 19 litre tank but then the racing teams wanted 24 litre tanks and 18in rear spoke wheels and 19in front spoke wheels for the castrol 6 hour race . best race ever, bog standard bikes racing for 6 hours with 2 riders.
  8. where did you get a new one from ?
  9. has anyone tried to replace their trip meter reset button on their gsx 1100 750 , is there any sort of fix to replace the button as hey only come with the top instrument case which is obsolete
  10. i have tried all the compare web sites and no listing of the gsx1100 , and i have called a couple of companies and no listing, one bloke said they dont list it because they dont insure it ? i have now got insurance as they listed the gsx manually , but have have seen since coral nash have a gsx1100e 1980 to 1985 listing. why the hell katana comes when the reg is put in is a mystery , the bike came in from the usa with only 1400 miles on the clock so i hope its not a katana rebuild, doesnt look like it is as it just looks to new, but thanks for the comments cheers chris
  11. Gday , i have just tried to insure my 1980 GSX1100 et/ex but they have no listing for this bike, and when i give themthe reg it comes up as a katana ? anyone else had troubles , do i insure it as a katana, is that what they were called here in the UK ? cheers chris
