  1. I am reading mixed pieces of information, can anyone confirm if b6 headers will work on b12? Also I called a breaker and sourced a slingshot 750 for €400. Will the bandit carbs work with this? The breaker said the bike came from UK and was tuned well running on Slabby flatslides, another forum post says these are too small at 29mm so would the 32mm B6 be any better once jetted and dynoed or should I get something bigger while at the breakers?
  2. It does seem tempting, buy a 12 and cdi or rebuild the 750, I have terrible look buying second hand parts though. What would I need for rebuilding the 750?
  3. Will B6 exhaust, carbs and cable clutch work with b12 engine? Will everything line up alright?
  4. I had thought about that but isnt that a pain to work on afterwards, no access to spark plugs and the top of the engine. I have a friend who offered to rebuild it if I get all the parts. Not sure what to get or where to get them but Ill look into it. I had a set of B6 carbs rebuilt for the job, bought gsxr 750 cdi and new b6 exhaust so I have alot of money put into the 6/750 route. Not really sure what to do now. Any recommendations?

  6. I swapped the black/white wire with the white wire on the loom side of the connector. I plugged in the GSXR CDI and bam spark on all four cylinders. The bike still did not start however the battery is weak. I was getting a strong spark on cylinder 1 and 4 and a weak spark on cylinder 2 and 3. Is that normal, perhaps a bad coil for cylinder 2 and 3? Is there something else that I am missing. I havent connected the signal wire for that tacho, only wire I dont know about now is the Orange/Red on the bandit loom, not sure if its needed or what it should be connected to?
  7. So I managed to track down a few wiring diagrams and this is what I have come up with. Not 100% sure what to do from here but I know what I can try anyway, Can I take a feed from the coil wires to power the cdi and a feed from the 3/2 coil to give signal to the tacho? Everything else I should be able to just match up the colours and pray it works.

Hi all, I have a MK1 Bandit 600 with a Slabside Gsxr750 engine, I had it running alright on the bandit cdi and pickups but I tracked down a gsxr cdi so swapped back to the gsxr 750 twin pickups and cdi and I have no spark. The bandit cdi is the mk1 8 pin (a 6 pin and a 4 pin block). Any wiring wizards that can advise me on how to use the gsxr cdi with the mk1 bandit 600 loom. I've seen a diagram on a 1200 or newer but I can't even find a wiring diagram for the mk1 600. Any help would be much appreciated. I can plug in the pickups and the 4 pin connector on the loom to the one on the gsxr cdi but there is a 6 pin connector that I have nowhere to connect. I presume the 4 pin connector needs to be rewired from my research and the 6 pin isn't needed? Regards, Keith Ryan
  9. Hi All, I know its been a while. Really struggled to get that shock in place but its on now, new braced swingar,. new cush rubbers, new rear sprocket, chain and sprocket carrier, renthal bars, new bar ends and grips, new tail light and undertray, fixed my tacho light and now everything is coming together. Left on my list is the GSXR Pickups and Cdi, new oil pressure switch, adjust clutch, bleed brakes, change front sprocket, tighten everything up and get it on a dyno. Now how the hell do I get the front sprocket off where the chain and back wheel have already been removed. I am really struggling with this, used WD40 and alot of pressure on it and still getting no where. If anyone has any suggestions that'd be great. Once everything is finally together I will put up some pictures. Regards, Keith Ryan
  10. Just picked up a GSXR 1000 K7 rear shock and a slabby 750 cdi from Paddy Costello in Tullamore for €200 and popped into Eddie Rockets on the way home for a bit of grub. Monday will entail new cdi, shock, swingarm, chain and sprockets change, swap pickup coils and oil pressure switch. Then off to John O Grady for a Dyno tune up. I have sourced some slabby flatslides for €200. Would they be worth getting over the bandit carbs?
  11. I might have sourced a 86 GSXR 750 CDI, Can anyone tell me if this will plug straight into the bandit loom once I swap back to the GSXR pickups or will I need a GSXR loom? Where is the oil switch located? Like Nigkat said you cant move the needles but I have added spacers according to the jet kit. I will look into this over the weekend.
  12. Has it really been two months? Anyhow one set of carbs fully rebuilt later (not by me, beyond my skillset) and it runs. It starts and runs, havent driven it yet but I couldnt be happier right now after being without my main bike for this long. One small issue, I have my oil light on constantly, is this normal when using basically everything from the blandit 6 and just the slabby 750 engine? 1. Is there something I can do to get it working accurately instead of always on? 2. Obviously the CDI I am using lets the engine rev too high so wondering should I invest in one of those DYNA2000 custom ignitions or try track down some slabby electics? 3. The guy who sorted the carbs says its running like a pig. There is no real kick of power until you hit 4000RPM, normal? Jetting issues perhaps? Any suggestions welcomed? Regards, Keith Ryan
  13. You sir, are a genius. Put a bit of diesel down each cylinder and left it sit for 24 hours then turned it back and forth by the nut behind the ignition pick up until it came free. Now I have carb issues, something which I despise. Not sure if I should head over banditforums.co.uk now or can anyone on here help me. When petcock is on bike wont start, when on prime petrol pours out of the over flow pipes. I am using Bandit Keihin CVK 32mm carbs on it that I ultrasonic cleaner myself with water and vinegar in a small ultrasonic bath. Had everything stripped down so maybe I have put something back together wrong.
  14. Ok, I'm an idiot, turns out the clutch was slipping because the actuator pin I made was too long, engine looks to be seized, any recommendations on what to try before handing it over to a professional for a rebuild or strip down?
  15. I have the bike filled with oil so didnt want to drain it to check it turning at the crank so I check from the sprocket. I pulled the plugs, put the bike in 6th it was stuck so i rocked it back and forwards and few times and it came free. Wheel turns in all the gears now by hand, the lower the gear the stiffer it is, however I did notice that pulling the clutch has no effect on how freely the wheel turns when in gear, is this odd? Started solenoid still clicks and starter doesnt budge, check all my wiring and cant find an issue so once again I am stumped, possibly the started motor stuck from being left idle? If so does anyone know will the bandit starter work on this engine?
  16. Dropped the bike into first gear there and tried rolling it and it just drags the back wheel. Presume that's the engine seized? Where should I go from here? Take it to a proper mechanic who knows what they are doing or could I try something?

Checked it with a multimeter and its reading 12.06V, I can stick it on charge and try again tomorrow but I doubt its the battery, battery was working ifne with the bandit engine before i dropped it out a month ago. Also I'm using the same rleay I used on the bandit so not sure where to go from there.
  18. Ok so thanks to everyone for yer help. Got an oil filter today, put everything back together hit the starter button and nothing but clicking from the relay. Connected 12V directly to the starter motor and nothing. When pressing the starter the relay clicks like hell and the motor makes an attempt (i think), basically i put my hand on the motor and it seems to be vibrating if that makes sense? Anyway like I said previously I bought this off a guy in a Tesco's car park who said he got it off a breaker who said it was good? Anyone have any input on if its the starter or if its something else? If its the starter will a bandit 6 starter work in place of it? Sorry now as I am typing this I realize it is a stupid question to be posing to the pro's over here but I am a mechanical novice, IT Technician by trade.
  19. Thanks for the reply vizman. I read the rules and quite enjoyed reading them. I had an eerie feeling posting about the "blandit" after reading through the rules. The reasons I have this and not a GSXR are 1. cost of GSXR's here in Ireland 2. higher road tax on the GSXR 3. The fact that the insurance company go mental when you mention bandit and just hang up on you if you mention GSXR being a 19 year old provisional licence holder. Managed to convince them to insure me on the blandit "restricted to 33bhp... pffft" , yes I know its risky lying to the insurance but at my age there isnt much other ways around it. I am having trouble tracking down a slabby cdi cheaply, I am wondering if there are any aftermarket ignition units I could use or would they even be worth it?

Hi All, I am currently working on my Bandit 600 which is lets say my first proper sports bike, anyhow to cut a long story short, bandit engine has high mileage, damaged rings, and damaged headers ie, all bolts well and truly seized and manifold rusted through. This is where I decide to go buy a GSXR 750 engine. Now me being a noob I dont look too much into it and just buy the first engine I see which is a R705 86 GSXR 750 Slabside engine. It came with a set of bandit carbs in miserable enough condition. I bought a small ultrasonic cleaner off Donedeal (craiglist in Ireland basically) and set about cleaning up the carbs. Stripped them all down cleaned them out and rebuilt them with a sigma 6 jet kit, I gave them the specs off the bike. So on Christmas Eve myself and the younger brother got the engine in the bike, over the next few weeks continued bit by bit. I have the bandit sump and oil pickup on there now. I have the bandit carbs on there, installed 4 new spark plugs, foam air filter socks onto the original boots. Bandit 600 oil cooler connected and the bike somewhat back together. Also fitted a new set of stainless steel headers from Black Widow Exhausts in the UK and a Danmoto GP Extreme exhaust. Now what brings me to being on here is the fact that I have a few questions to ask, this is the moment where everyone face palms and says use the god damn search box, well I have done quite a bit of research and I just can't find and definitive answers so any help would be much obliged. 1. Are the carbs big enough, the slabside originally came with 28mm so I presume 32mm is loads? 2. Will the Bandit 6 Oil cooler be sufficient or do I need to upgrade? 3. Will the exhaust flow enough air or is the bandit headers knows to cause problems? 4. When I got the engine it was just the engine, I got no sprocket cover so I tried the bandit one and discovered (well I presume) the actuator pin is too short, anyone know what size I should cut a new length of 6mm steel rod to? 5. All the connectors between the 86 GSXR Engine and the 99 Bandit 600 loom match up. i believe the GSXR has twin ignition pickups but the bandit has single, do I need to change the ignition pickups or can I simply connect the one with the matching connector and color cables and leave the other idle? If I do need to swap the pickups, is it easy to do? I am just waiting on an oil filter now and I will fill it with oil and try start her up. I still have no idea if the engine is good as I bought it off Donedeal hoping it will be fine. If everything works as I am hoping should have it running tomorrow night. Anyway as I said any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ciath O'Riain
