  1. Looks like the bar that holds the slide pivot arm in place but i think only single carbs have those not banks of four...someone with more intelligence than me will be along soon lol

  2. I like the can for sure but not sure it suits this particular bike although it does seem to be as long as the rear seat plastic unit which is good if you are fussy lol...shortening it may improve it but then again it may look better when all the bodywork is on.....

Anyhoo its up to you,......at least its different. The bike looks like a cracker whatever can you have on it.(y)

  3. Thanks for your help guys....it does seem odd as they have split under the clips rather than along their edges..I have emailed the vendor but I have also found some new ones on Wemoto.I will invest in some new proper clips too.

  4. The old ones i replaced them with were slightly cracked and pretty tough and unforgiving which made the job of getting the carbs on and off a lot harder hence the reason for new ones....these are a lot softer to the touch but i don't know if that is normal or not.

I am using stainless jubilees which came on the bike on both the head side and carb.Neither were over tightened in my opinion.

When the engine is running i do notice the bellowing whereas the old ones didn't hardly move.

There is some flex up and down from the bank of Mikuni's (RS) which i guess could contribute towards early fatigue but i guess bracing it isn't a good idea.

I reckon i will contact SPS to see if they can shed some light.Cheers guys.

Ps..i have noticed they all split next to the raised 'ring' which sits into the groove on the head stubs, which is directly in the centre of the jubilee clip....the RS's don't have one,but two smaller grooves to locate the rubbers although this has never seemed to be an issue.

  5. Guys, how long should inlet rubbers last from new?...yes its bit of an odd question but Im sure it should be longer than 6 months!!...

I have been having issues on and off with my carbs although up until recently i thought it was sorted.I then came back from holiday and wanted to take the EFE out for a spin only for it to start playing up again.Tonight i used a set of carb balancers deciding the bench synch wasn't quite good enough.

I couldn't really get all the dials to match number 3 so i went for a happy medium and left it at that.It wasn't until i went to check the jubilee clips on the rubbers i noticed one had split!!!....In fact all but one was on its way out!..

I paid £90 for genuine Suzuki rubbers back in Spring and expected them to last some time.I hadn't done up the jubilee clips too tight as far as i know and i wouldn't have thought the 'pulsing' would have caused it either..

Any thoughts or recommendations....does anyone have any other ideas ie Samco type hoses etc or is it simply a case of buying some more of the same?

Why are you polishing the ports? There seem to be two schools of thought regarding this, the first would be polished to give a slippery entrance/ exit to fuel charge and subsequent exit of spent gas. The second suggests that at least on the inlet, a slightly rough cast, as in how Suzuki intended, gives turbulence to the charge and this turbulence gives a better fuel mixture distribution when the charge enters the combustion chamber.

Maybe a good de coke and a deburr could be a simpler cheaper solution with potentially the same gain.....:pimp:

Americans tried polishing the ports on British built Spitfires as they thought the rough casting was a sign of poor workmanship....after they f@cked up/seized the engines the Brits said 'told you so' ...the reason it had a rough finish was as Jonboy said, the better mix distribution....but this is vintage planes, not OSS mind you lol

I have to agree that Gary's pictures were brilliant. Thanks Gary, you are now the the Official OSS photographer:tu

Although this one of John looks like you caught him queuing up to get into a dogging  meeting. It's got that wide angle lensed covert , behind the trees feel and John looks startled and nervous.:) Gottcha! - front page of the Sun.

I hope not.....the one he is waiting behind is me O.o

  8. It was good fun.....i felt i could have gone quicker if the track stayed dry.The tyres showed signs of warming up by the end of the day lol...i dont know how old they are but they kept me upright....

My tactic of starting each session near the back paid off...that way it took them longer to catch me up.

Who was on the GS1000 in the Red group???..he passed me on the outside of Chris Curve, knee down elbows out hanging like a monkey but he looked so friggin cool...he has some talent :tu
