Mikuni RS side pull version

See that some RS Mikuni carbs are side pull ( picture) . Is this a kind o special version or just other version ?

MIKUNI Topham says that the sideword throttle cable retainer is an option for the carbs with 77-93-77 distance between the several carb bodys.

Don't know why, but that's what the catalog says.
