Guest Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) do you have to re-jet if your fitting a k&n to replace the standard eliment Edited February 21, 2016 by yellowcakeuf6 Quote
Jaydee Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 A K&N filter will allow more airflow. Because the fuel metering has remained the same, the extra airflow will now have the fuel ratio running on the lean side. The more air, the leaner it gets. You have to upjet to match the airflow. What type of K&N is it? In the airbox (stage 1 kit recommended) or is it pods ( stage 3 kit recommended)? Quote
Guest Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 it a direct airbox replacement type i am using not the pod type Quote
banoffee Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 What bike? As a personal rule of thumb if I'm fitting a free flowing exhaust can and a K&N element I go up a couple of sizes on the mains and see how it goes, tweaking the needles if it feels like it needs it too. Not saying it's perfect or suits every bike however has proved to be a good starting point over the years/bikes. Quote
martyngsxr Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 on my replacement k&n filter it has a rubber restrictor on the filter it can be fitted 2 ways 1st for normal untunned engine and the second for a tuned engine Quote
Guest Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) its a mk1 1200 bandit ive re done the float heights and im going to give it another try my mate lent me his carbs from his gsxr 1100 sprint bike and it ran ok without any filter at all i checked his jets and they were 122.5 mains so ive definitely got a issue with my carbs Edited February 22, 2016 by yellowcakeuf6 Quote
teltwosheds Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 about 20% main jet increase is a good rule of thumb starting point Quote
