Bradders Posted February 2 Posted February 2 When I put the my GSX550 away for the winter I dropped the oil and changed the filter. I put fresh oil in it today and cranked the engine. After about 20 seconds the oil light was still on and the level in the sight glass hadn't dropped. (no fuel in yet so no worries there) Question is, Have I been a right numpty and put the oil filter in the wrong way round? Cheers Brad Quote
Dezza Posted February 3 Posted February 3 What filter does it take? If it's the paper cartridge type as used on a whole load of air cooled Suzukis, e.g. GSX1100, then it only fits one way as the o'rings in the middle fit over the metal stub. If it was put in back to front the filter plate wouldn't go on. Quote
Bradders Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 Thanks Dezza, already opened it up to check and realised it does only fit one way. So put some fuel in and oil light went out as soon as it fired up. Happy days ( apart from noticing the exhaust collector is blowing from several holes) it never ends does it? 1 Quote
