GS1100GL(Shaft-Drive) Suspension compatibility with GS1100(Chain-Drive)

Recommended Posts

I have a 1982 Suzuki GS1100GL shaft drive and it's great. I just went through the engine and refreshed everything. It still has original fork springs/rear shocks and I want to modernize it. Open to fork swaps or progressive fork springs and curious for some dual Ohlins for the rear. I see Ohlins offers rear shocks for the GS1100e but not specifically for the GS1100GL, I know the swingarms are obviously different. Any feedback or input from someone who has some experience with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks (Also, if there are build threads covering exactly this, please share. I apologize I couldn't find anything.)

I think the GS1100 will be the four valve motor as in USA that was their designation not GSX as the UK four valve was.

Nearest equivalent to two valve GS1100g would be two valve GS1000.

Some of the four Valve are twin shock some are mono.

A pair of shocks for GSX et would probably not be far off
