Guest Manxzookie Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Just built a bandit top end and had the carbs ultrasonic cleaned I've replaced the standard exhaust with a full cobra system . to try and eliminate the backfire on the overrun I've raised the needles 1 notch she ticks over fine and revs ok but the backfires horrendous with a flame to follow any ideas ? Ps it's a mk2 1200 Quote
teltwosheds Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Yeh try dropping them lol. Seriously, have you checked your cam chain, ign timing etc? flaming on the overrun is a sign of excess unburnt fuel in the exhaust. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will pipe up Quote
Gixer1460 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 Actual flames that are burning and not just from the bang is a rich condition but bangs on over-run points to a lean condition / exhaust air leak! Have you done the PAIR mod as that would cure one likely source, others would be poor joint sealing. just raising the needle isn't gonna help with a Cobra pipe - ideally a designed needle and a MJ swop will be required. Guest Manxzookie Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 (edited) I'm going to dump the pairs fit new exhaust gaskets and raise the needles 2 notches see how that pans out and rejet if req Edited January 25, 2016 by Manxzookie Quote
