nickbilljim Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Hi I have 1986 suzuki savage, the clutch was slipping a bit in 4th gearI had to take the engine to install a new piston and cam, whilst I was at it I checked the clutch plates they had hardly any ware and a small bit of glazing on 2 of the steel platesafter soaking all the plates in brake fluid for 24 hours I cleaned up the glazed plates with a light abrasive, all the plates look and feel perfect.I rebuilt the engine and used a small amount of Grophogen on the cam, this bike has a wet clutch (the oil in the sump also lubricates the clutch) now the clutch slips in all gears until warm but it still slips even when warmI changed the oil to silkolene comp 4 10 w 40 in case the old oil had moly in it.could either the wrong oil or the graphogen permanently ruined my friction plates? Can you use graphogen on bikes with wet clutchesmany thanks Nick Quote

nickbilljim Posted March 18, 2020 Author Posted March 18, 2020 I am sorry my name is nick I actually posted this my self on suzuki savage .com but no one answered me so I copy and pasted it myself Quote
Gixer1460 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Graphogen may have affected the plates and why in Gods name did you use Brake Fluid to soak the plates ? ? ? It maybe oil but you don't use it in an engine! Whilst the oil you've used as a flush maybe touted for bikes only certain bikes tend to 'get on with it' - and with what you've done to your plates they are likely not to like fully synth oil! BTW are they genuine Suzuki or aftermarket - the latter would also be a concern! Sorry its not looking good! Quote
banoffee Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 I'm going to guess/hope he meant 'brake cleaner' ? Quote
