  1. Can anyone tell me if the Bandit block is a straight swap for the 11 slingy one in 1216 form? Just want confirmation it'll fit before I throw money at something I shouldn't!
  2. Exactly what I needed. You, sir, are a star.
  3. Hopefully only a quicky.....anyone know what sizes of crankshaft thrust bearing the various colour codes actually refer to? The little book of lies (Haynes) is no fucking use at all and all the online parts "fiches" I've found give the part no for the bearings by colour code but not by dimension. Thanks
  4. They must've seen this post and were waiting for the rush
  5. Does anyone know if any downpipes/collectors from any other models fit the 1100 EZ? GSXR, Bandit etc? The set on mine will probably go again with a bit of work but a) I'm a lazy bastard at heart, and b) I'd kinda like something shiney rather than black. Thanks in advance.

    GSX1100EG?

No worries, alcohol induced misunderstandings happen to all of us....and at least getting stick for taking on a project makes sense now Already started collecting a few bits for the old bus and yh I'll post pics as it starts coming together the way I want it. It's all a learning curve again after so long playing with GSXR's....I've got no idea what bits are interchangeable with other models so guess I'll be filling the forums with dumb questions.
  7. Thanks guys. Stem swap it is.
  8. Anyone know the diameter of the gudgeon pins on the 1127 motors (GSXR 1100 N if it matters) before I have to go dig out the Haynes? Ta
  9. So I've bought a YZF front end to go into the EZ that currently has a B12 stem in the yokes, can I use it with just a bearing change or would it be easier to swap the stem for the EZ one?

You don't sound a bit harsh, you sound like someone who couldn't be arsed to read the whole thread before weighing in.

    GSX1100EG?

Elbow grease is cheap and readily available, about the only thing I plan to spend any proper money on is some powder coating, it's about the only thing I won't be able to do myself.

    GSX1100EG?

It isn't pretty, that's for sure. But it can be without too much work (I think). And if it comes to it I can break it for more than I've paid.

    GSX1100EG?

Is that the polite way of saying it looks like a pile of shite?

    GSX1100EG?

Well so much for buying a cheap winter ride, what I've done is bought yet another fucking project.....yep, I bought it. Picking it up next week. The more I looked at he bloody thing the more potential I could see, gods help me. And for those that asked for pics there's one above, got a few more but need to resize them before I can post them. It's an American import 1982 1100 EZ first registered here in '92, comes complete with the wrong clocks and light, a Yamaha front brake master cylinder (not that that matters coz it's goosed and going straight in the bin). Needs a lot of tlc.....starting with removing the crap graphics and those bloody awful footpegs.

    GSX1100EG?

So when is an 1100EG not an 1100EG? Went to see this bike today expecting a scruffy as described bike, nope. It's an 1100 alright, but it's a 1982 X plated 1100 EZ (I think). Rear ends been cut down/shortened, has a god awful seat on it that fits where it touches, brakes are shot, suspension ditto, engine runs but has a nice case of the furrys.....and yet I'm still kinda tempted.

    GSX1100EG?

Apparently it's standard, runs and rides but it's a hound cosmetically....though that said it's nowhere near a grand either. So guess come the weekend I'll be picking up my winter ride and it can be taken apart and worked on once spring arrives and the GSXR comes out of hibernation .

    GSX1100EG?

Dodgy electrics aren't an issue, quite used to replacing 20+ yr old wiring and components. So just check the frame for corrosion and cracked subframes? Though I guess being a steel frame they're easy enough to get repaired? Thanks again guys, this site and it's members are an absolute godsend when it comes to stuff like this.

    GSX1100EG?

Thanks guys, first thing I did was turn to google and it had nothing as concise as the info from captain chaos or you. At least now I know what I'll be going to see. I guess the next silly question is, is there anything in particular to look out for on these. Please excuse the complete lack of knowledge, I've been playing with oil cooled GSXR 11's for the last 16 years and while I've loved the looks of the these big bruisers they were never really on my radar before.

    GSX1100EG?

Does anyone know what a GSX1100EG is please? Been offered one but not had a chance to go see it yet and can't find any references to them on the web. Been told it's an 1135 air cooled lump so I'm assuming it's going to be along the lines of an EF/EFE.
  20. Patience is starting to run thin. Christ knows how many times I've lifted the bottom case to make minute adjustments....or bloody big ones....but yeah, didn't think about using a long thin tool to do it with rather than fingers. Thanks.
  21. Why can't I get the gear selector forks aligned with the gear shafts when putting the crankcase halves back together? Is there a trick I'm missing? Some bit of common sense I'm not party to? Or am I just being bloody thick? Crank and gear shafts into top case, necessary studs in place, crank thrust bearings in place, O-rings in place....but lower the bottom half on and the forks just seem to go where they please. Any advice? 1992 GSXR1127 lump btw.
  22. Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.....and tbh RojoMojo I don't think you'll find too many people judging an unfinished project on it's cosmetic appearance, certainly not me.
