  1. Hi lads

wondering if anyone knows this piston code?  J55A6, From what I can find online, which was very little on a gsxr forum, some people said they are wiseco and some said JE but I can't find the code with any  manafucters online part search, They are 81mm so 1216 but unsure of make?  Whats best way of giving them a little clean up? Cheers for any help

cams were in already mate..exhaust sound ace.i have gone one tooth smaller on front sprocket.so pick-up is much better..

It has a dot head on it aswell, goes very well, as I fitted it about 4-5 years ago, when I owned the bike,

I think Dale Walker used to use 10.5 :1  pistons as well as 12:1, as the guys have said , 12:1 should be no problem on half decent fuel - the 10.5:1 lets you use pretty much anything and you could still use an ignition advancer. You could do a dry build and measure the piston to head gap with solder - not a lumpy piston though, big difference between 73mm and 81mm bore, so a mismatch with the head is possible.

Cheers, yeah can see where your coming from with the mis match in the head, could maybe just have my own head worked on instead cheers

The compression shouldn't be a problem, 1100Rs  are 10:1 std  for example and are fine with the dot head, the shape of the piston crown and the 750's  shape of  chamber might well be though. What make of piston are the 1216s ? someone might have some experience with them. . . . .

    JE 10.5.1

  5. Hi lads

recently bought some low mileage 1216 pistons, which are 10.5.1, bandit 1200 motor is standard so far, could a dot head be used with Pistons at that comp? I've done a dot head swap on a standard motor before, but with the comp hike with a dot head, I wondered if it would work with the 10.5.1 Pistons? Or if it's too much comp and a lot of grief to make work? I don't know the figures etc increase with the dot head etc, thought I'd ask the question as some of the experienced guys on here will know if it's a no-go to start with

    cheers

Have been reading up a lot on this however still a lot of conflicting info out there.

Which flatslides would complement a bandit 1216 motor the best? The motor spec is big cc stage 3, wiseco 1216, Kent stage 2 cams. Currently running standard carbs with stage 3 dynojet.

Ive got an option of FCR41, RS38 or RS40.

Would the FCR's be too much for fast road and be more suited to track? RS40's be too big?

Any help and personal experience would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Depends what model slingshot whether you can get a tap or not just looked and repair kits are now £25:(

Yeah just had a look, 1100n didn't see a tap for it, if it was only £50 for tap I would of bought at £25 repair kit ,

    cheers

  8. Hi lads

slingshot 1100 fuel tap is pissing fuel through the tap face, never used a repair kit and wondered if anyone has success with one sourced from a particular seller etc? Heard mixed reviews about if they even work

    Cheers

  9. Another question while were here,  bandit 1200 engine and carbs using a slingshot airbox with k&n, start with standard slingshot jetting because of the airbox? Or is it likely to be more the bandit jetting? Ie, is the airbox design and size the factor,? Hope  that makes sense

    Cheers

  10. Airbox with free flow filter every time, check out jonny bumps bike! Speaks volumes after all the r&ad work he's carried out ! Carbon Airbox panel filter works a treat !  So proof in the pudding , Airbox less hassle in jetting and Dyno time.

there is s k&n in the airbox, I'll look for johnnys bike, is it on here?
