  2. Just to confirm, it’s also the short 750 swing arm only fitted on the 750F first model (the G model onwards had a slightly increased wheelbase with a longer swing arm). Also if I remember correctly, it’s had the rear wheel adjusters bored slightly larger to accept the G model onwards rear wheel spindle    :tu

    There’s a good chance it was like that when I had it Gary, all the mounts had been made by the previous owner and I never removed the engine or properly checked alignment. I’m sure you’ll sort her out, it’s coming along really nicely

  6. Finally found 5 minutes spare and a little bit of sunshine to take the Martin for it's mot. Got an advisory for the chain being a bit slack :$ but passed nicely with it's new indicators and the comfortable seat is great lol

  7. A big thank you to @Katanawho very kindly did me a deal for his eagle exhaust which fits the Martin almost like it was made for it :tu

    I've also started making a proper seat as I'm hoping to use the bike more regularly on the road this year.....I haven't got any decent cover materials at the moment so I've just used an old seat cover to get an idea of how the shape will look, I used the foam from a zxr750 front seat.

    What gear shift arm is that, the bit that fits on the splined shaft?

    Dunno dez, it was on the bike when I got it.....possibly aftermarket? the slot in it looks quite similar to the ones in the gear lever.....

    It could have been Davida of helmet fame? They are in Birkenhead and used to produce things other than helmets but I didn't know that the made fork braces. I just bought a Tarozzi for me ET-EX.

    Regarding the arse up - head down position, Maxton measured up the bike and determined that the steering head angle is so lazy on the standard bike that ideally they would raise the rear by 75mm to get it even close to what is used on more modern bikes without cutting and welding. I forget the figure they work to. Obviously that's not going to work, so we agreed a compromise to steepen it as much as practical without losing too much ground clearance. The objective being to improve the turn-in and also minimise the high speed instability which may be related to lack of weight on the raked-out front end.  With their suspension set-up it won't be difficult to drop the rear or raise the front should it proves desirable.

    The only problem is that the rear shock mounts to suit the Metmachex swing arm aren't back from the anodisers so it will be another week before I get the bike back.

    On the "plus-side" the Eblag 18" wheels arrived yesterday and look great but I think that will be a job for the winter.

    @wrx03ppp

    what was the free length of the rear shocks that you finished with please?

    So it turns out i only did a 'man' look.......further searching and here is the info below, might be useful to others.......

    Very interested on how you feel on track with mods you done.

    Balance, stability,clearance...? Please.

    Hi Yann......it feels like the upgrades are going in the right direction.

    I had some advice from Yoshi Jonny and Rob Bean - dropped the forks through the yokes by 10mm which has helped to give better feel and use from the front tyre.

    Balance, stability and clearance are all good, I just need to back off the rear shock pre-load as it is a little too hard at present.

    The main limiting factor is my ability on the bike, I need a better rider to try it now and push the bike further.....all applicants welcome :)
