I think the white smoke was water vapor. It’s gone away since. I still notice it’s takes a while to warm up though. Would switching to a 17.5 help with that issue?
My gs1000 has k&n air filters and a Vance & hines exhaust but I still found increasing the pilot jets just made it too rich…..that said, I’m in the uk and the climate can make tuning different, but I’d be looking at fine tuning the carb’s again before swapping out the jets

Count me in please dave ….with the gs1000 this year

I’ll double check on mine when I get home but I think it’s around 3/8” before the chain starts hitting the frame…..I’ve also had to use a non o-ring 530 chain (slimmer than the standard o-ring type).

The 750g jdm that I had fresh into the uk in 1991 had the red speed warning light that a lot of people talk about, which flashed above a certain speed……it still pulled an indicated 145mph (obviously on a private road)

When I fit the tail piece on my gs1000 I do have to push the rear light down and backwards a little for the tail piece to slip into position, it doesn’t need much but moves just enough on the rubber mounts.

That’s going to be a great do…..gutted that I’m already booked up to be on a ferry to Ireland the same weekend

370 I think.
Cool, thanks for checking it for me mate…..sounds like it’s the same measurement as a gs1000, close but no cigar.

Is that 375mm between centres mate?

JB I've discovered recently that my one originally had a GS1000 motor fitted. Also around that time quite a few had Jota motors fitted. I have a 1100et motor I could measure if you like.
Yes please, that would be great thanks Clive……
heres a picture showing how I’ve been measuring the mounting points distance (sorry it’s a foreign engine but it’s all I have to hand)

More pics are clearly required
If the frame number is still readable, then Rory at GIA can ask Stuart Tiller to look it up. Apparently he still has a load of documentation from the old Spondon works.
Yes I believe so mate, unfortunately I’m missing the frame number…..as it’s a quite early frame I was hopeful that the engine choice would have been minimal but it may not be for a Suzuki after all, I’ve tried a gs1000 engine and it fits snugly, but is 10mm too short for the mounting points

Just had a measure. 215mm, lower rear to lower middle mount … a bit awkward using one hand for each!
Upper rear to front is 402mm give or take a mil. You can just see the front engine bolt below the tape.
That’s from a ‘78 750 2valve. I would imagine the later 4 valve TSCC cases are the same dimms? Don’t know. Just guessing
Thanks mate….it’s the upper rear to front that’s critical, and judging by your measurement it’s a little too big for my frame….much appreciated, but it’s back to the drawing board

Thanks pal…..next week will be great cheers

Could someone please do me a big favour and measure the distance between the front and back top engine mounting points on a gs750 engine….ideally it’s easier if the engine is out of the bike so you can use some round bar pushed inside the mounts to get a fairly accurate between centers measurement for me……cheers

There was one fitted to my 1100ez when I bought the bike, it was a couple of years old and had rusted quite a lot underneath with average all year round use…..as far as performance goes it was quite poor, swapping it for an old Harris exhaust made a quite noticeable improvement

Could also be PFM discs, they used to sell the rotors with bobbins for fitting onto standard centres

Provisionally yes Paul
can bring the 1100 slabby or gs1000 mate -
Nice find!
as above, looks like a wiseco part number on top of the piston. You’re correct that popy is yoshimura cams, and they are smooth bore carbs…. identified by the small square boss on the carbs body just above the float bowl- 3
