  1. Duckndive, it's never been registered in the ROI although it's apparently an easy process so I'm told by the vendor, makes me wonder as to why he never did it. To bring it into the UK I believe it will need an IVA and the work must be checked and confirmed at an MOT Test Centre. As it's fully faired I doubt the test centre would see a top mounted speedo corrector. It's just when you start adding all the associated costs it doesn't look as attractive a deal as first thought.

Pay a bit more and make life easier!

  2. I'm looking at buying a Polish registered EFE from a guy in Ireland, he's never registered it there. Looked at what needs to be done to register it in the UK and first up is the correct headlight. The.Gov website says no stickers, deflectors etc, it must dip to the left. Speedo is in KMH only so I thought a speedo corrector would manage that but the guide says no secondary devices allowed. You can apparently put stickers with mph markers but they must be on the speedo face not the glass/plastic cover. A new headlight and potentially a set of clocks starts racking up the £££'s. Then there's the fees. Anyone got any experience of a similar situation?

  3. Thanks Tony, very informative, I guess that the old girl was an EX based on year and the black engine, she's still showing on the Gov is my vehicle taxed website, my old EF isn't, sold it to a mate and it was reversed over by an artic!

  4. Many years back I had a 1983 GSX1100 ET or was it an EX? I have seen a number of posts saying there wasn't much difference between the two models, was it just a revised name for the later years or are there specific differences?

  5. NigKat, will the inlet valves sit flush with the cam turned away from the follower? You may have bent a couple, as you say the pistons have been kissed and there's witness marks on the valves.:(

  6. Well it is aircooled and it's on the aircooled forum! The back end would be nice but the front end is completely non adjustable so waste of time even on a svelte Monster. I will be looking for plenty of advice as to what the best swaps front and rear are, and easiest of course.

  7. I have more pictures of the EF but my daughter may have them on her "Wall".  I know it's a Ducati not a Suzuki but I'm chancing it.

  8. I hope so, my old EX was mint, black with blue stripes, black chrome Kat pipes, Marzocchis and I bought it off a mate of Steve Burns. EF was different, scruffy, had been dropped, RD125LC headlight, non standard paint but she was a missile.

  9. Thanks for the welcome, I'll have to dig out the old photos of the EX and EF. I also have my good lady's first bike squirrelled away in the shed, an old GSX400F, ripe for restoration.

  10. Hi folks, thought it was time I joined after reading numerous articles by Gary Hurd in PS before its demise. Anyway, 30 years and three kids after owning a GSX1100EX and a GSX1100EF i thought it time to get back on a bike. I had a near fatal experience but fully recovered and thought life is for living so bought a Ducati Monster 796, which I love by the way. But my heart says 1100EF with modern suspension. Nothing but nothing has that wall of torque like the aircooled 1100, so I've set myself a mission. Ducati is great for the A & B roads but she's not comfy or as lazy as I recall the EF.
