  1. Cheers for the replies chaps.  I'm not 100% sure which model the rear wheel is off, all I can say  for certain is that during mockup the front sprocket was roughly 10mm out from the rear. The rear wheel is central in the frame, should have the engine central next week sometime.

15/48 sounds about right, it looked to give the best performance on gearing commander.

  2. So I'm building a rigid framed bike, I'm using a gsx1100f engine with a gsxr 180 rear wheel.

The engine currently has a 15tooth sprocket and the wheel has a 43 tooth one.  Now I'm going to have to offset the front sprocket only I'm not sure by how much yet, probably about 10mm I reckon.

Anyway, I was wondering what size rear sprocket people recommend? Should I go up to 48 teeth? Or even 52? What pitch do people recommend 630/530/525/520? And why?

I've used gearing commander .com to get and idea, but wanted actual real world advice.

You never tried Google? Next, you'll want one of us to buy them as well :stop:

Wow, I asked for a bit of advice. Didn't realise I flicked the dick switch.

  4. Hi, I was hoping someone could tell me where I can get gasket sets in the uk or online for my Gsx1100f? Preferably at a affordable price.

Why the question? Have you a problem with it not opening fully?

I'm wanting to fit an internal throttle to a custom build that uses a gsx1100f engine. It has 25mm movement from closed to open and I want to make sure it will open the carbs fully

How much street time does the bike actually get? If you just want it for at the strip, stick a teapot or b6 cooler on it, they're both pretty small and with a little creativity could probably be ran vertical down the front frame tube.

It'll get loads of street time once it's built. I'm chopper Club, so thousands of miles per year in all weather, no excuses.

I have a teapot 600 cooler on my B12 engined EFE, it previously had a Powerscreen engine. Only once ever had any slight overheating issues, was on a f@cking hot day, stop-start traffic, with a passenger.

I'd say a Teapot 600 cooler is enough for your application.

    That good to know, cheers.

Well if you do you'll need to fit a thermostatic  switch to control it obviously, but also consider a oil temp display (small digital even built into some of the fancy gauges that do everything thing, revs and gears etc,) just so you could see what's what

    I will be doing that.

if their is room how about a smallish cooler and fit a fan behind it ?   my GSX1400 has a fan but its rare to here it on them, but the 1400 has a very big cooler :D

That's not a bad idea actually, I'll have a think on that. Combine it with a gsx600f cooler

  10. I need to start off by saying I know nothing about modern bike engines. But I am building a hardtail chop with a gsx1100f engine. I think I have the correct carbs for it (2 different sets came in the crate). I've included pics of what I think are the correct ones.

I've been trying to find out about the choke and throttle. It looks like you only fit one throttle cable to the carbs but some people have said it has 2 ?

Also I've been told it uses a choke lever on the bars, but there appears to be a pull out choke knob fitted to the carbs already?

Lastly, apart from the two fuel inlets, what are all the other pipes and outlets and stuff on the carb for?

  11. I'm thinking about fitting stick coils to my Gsx1100f project.

I've been told that gsxr600k4 coils will work? What's the general concensus on these? Will they work? Are there others to concider ?

And while I'm on, CDI boxes, I'm thinking of getting a second hand one because of cost, but are there new non stock ones available that will work?
