  1. Hi folks, I’ve got a efe and I’m thinking of using a Dyna 2000 ignition . My original cod is dead and a genuine Suzuki replacement is about the same as the Dyna system. I’ve got the Dyna coils and leads , so my question is are the Dyna system worth the money or should I buy an original. I’ve done a few mods which may be relevant, new valves and guides , springs retainers 1230 pistons rs36 carbs new clutch I have some web cams waiting to go in at some point with new rockers to suit. Any advise is much appreciated
  2. Thanks kiwi I’ll give them a try
  3. Hi , does anyone know if you can still buy a Vance and Hines pipe for a 1150 efe, I can’t find one anywhere so any help wold be much appreciated,
  4. Problem solved, I recently lined the inside of the tank and unknowingly filled the breather hole with tank liner and because it’s clear I couldn’t see it was blocked, runs fine now it’s been cleared.
  5. Good afternoon, finally got round to painting the tank and plastics now I just need a new set of tank rubbers, however they seem to be unobtainable, any ideas.
  6. I haven’t fitted the new carbs as yet because I need new rubbers and filters , I’d like to solve the issue first , mostly for peace of mind and also I’d like to sell to old carbs as fully working plus I have a whole load of other parts to fit and I wanted to do everything at the same time during a full strip down over the next winter.
  7. Just took the fuel cap apart and cleaned it , as yet I haven’t had time to go for a ride. Some time ago I bought a new set of rs36 carbs but I’d like to solve this issue in case it’s something else, then I’ll change the carbs and rubbers .
  8. I’m having some problems with my gsx 1100ef 86 model, so I go out for a ride and after maybe 5 miles it starts to splutter like it’s running out of fuel but there’s plenty , it even cuts out . I’ve flushed the tank and fitted a new fuel tap and the float bowls have been cleaned but as yet I haven’t removed the carbs as the carb rubbers are original and I just know they’ll crack and fall apart but eventually they will need to come off , so my question is should I just give them a clean or is there something specific that would cause such an issue. I have been thinking also about a new set of coils as I have some dynatek 3ohm from an old project. Any help would be much appreciated.
  9. so I’ve made the longer linkage using the advice from you chaps and I think it turned out as I’d hoped, gained about 12 cm in ride height from the linkage and new yss shock .
  10. Thanks lads, it looks like it’s not as complicated as I imagined, the main thing was how much does one add for a given ride height so 4-1 gives me a good point to start from
  11. Hi all, does anyone have a photo or know where to find one of a efe extended suspension linkage, I’d like to raise the bike up a few inches to improve the stance and would like to see how others have managed , many thanks nick
  12. Hi people, just wondering if anyone has any experience of Mtc big bore kits for an 1150 efe . I’ve bought a 1260 kit and was wondering if there was any tips for this kit . Thanks in advance
  13. Hi , quick question, without stripping the engine down how do you know what size gudgin pin your engine has I have a gsx 1100 ef grime 86 I have bought a 1260 bore kit but would like to know what size I have as there seems to be 18 or 20 mm I can swap the kit if it’s wrong ( 20mm ) it’s because the engine runs fine so I’m waiting to fit the new pistons , thanks
  14. Thanks for the help, I’ve decided to repair the tank I have , I’ve cut out both sides and made two new strips to weld in place . It was only the very bottom that was bad so not such as bad as I initially thought.
  15. Hi all, quick question, has anyone ever swapped the tank on an efe for another from another model. Mine is full of pin holes after cleaning and may need replacing. The whole bike is coming apart over winter so I’d consider some of the early gsx1100 tanks. Many thanks
  16. Hi folk, recently bought an 86 efe and want to swap the forks, I’ve got a set Fromm a gsxr 1100 w 1993 and I’m wondering if any one else has made this swap and how difficult/ easy it was, I’m really looking for a bit of advice to save me from any expensive mistakes. I have the full front end . Hopefully it’s just a case of new bearings and in it goes, am I that lucky or just dreaming. Thanks in advance
  17. Thanks for all the advice, I’ve gone and bought a set of mikuni rs36 and a 1230 big bore kit also a bandit swingarm and wheel , on order is the complete front end from a gsxr 1100wn , I ordered an exhaust about a month ago and I’m still waiting for that . Next up is the clutch which is a bit of a mystery as to what to get, so I’ve got a few things to be getting on with this winter. Maybe some Kent cams but I have no idea as to if it’s worth it or not.
  18. the body works a bit tatty and the forks are weeping also oddly enough it stinks like an old electric radiator that’s just been started after the summers over. No electrical gremlins though.
  19. Thanks for the words of wisdom, I forgot to mention I have a mk2 1200 bandit swing arm and back wheel and I was wondering about a front end which doesn’t require a huge amount of engineering to get it in , maybe just a new steering stem .
  20. Hi all I’m new to this forum and have just bought an old gsx 1100 efe from 86. The motor is in good shape although it has 61000km on it, the rest of the bike is fairly worn out but road worthy. So my question is , I’d like to tune the motor but what would be considered a good fast road tune ie what components would give best value for money against power gained. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks nick
  21. That doesn’t sound good, here in Denmark we can’t ride in winter so hopefully it won’t be a problem
  22. Hi , has anyone ever tried the setrab oil coolers , I just bought a New 16 row cooler with no fitting for £50 , good , no good, and is it worth spending loads on fancy fittings when just regular stainless seem much cheaper I’ve seen stuff for diggers that are the same size but 1/4 the price
  23. Hi, Quick question , has anyone on here tried The marving exhaust for a gsx 1100 ef, they seem fairly good value but are they any good. Just bought a standard 1100 ef and want to get rid of the original pipe. Many thanks
