Your bike ... your decision! (y)

    I know!

I’m a bit tiered of making Cafe racers with modern suspension and brakes as I have done this during years.

For this one I’m more keen making a classical road-racer style as I never made this before

  2. I have the swingarm ready and fitted with a R1 shocker,

I don’t know how good or bad the OEM callipers brakes but I’m restoring them as well to have the option to leave the bike all original if wanted, to be honest I still haven’t made up my mind what kind of suspension/brakes to use...

  5. I have been cleaning and preparing for painting the wheels (I hate removing  wheel stickers).

Front (Sport version..) fork is more or less ready,  I’m not happy with the to blimblim silver color on the callipers, I have to do something with that..

    You're very quick!!! Great progress

Normally I just have to be at my work from 08:15 to 13:00h, that’s why I have all afternoon for sports, family or my garage...

I haven’t done much today, but I did try on the Kawa wheel and rear brake with the oem swing and it’s a very easy fit.

But I prefer to try finding the re-forced unit from the Gsxr 1100 just for the look..

Nice find.  Ist that an 1100 lump in there?  look like 1052 carbs, and the block has 14 fins..

    Where are you based?

  9. This afternoon I played a little with parts I have laying around from a ZXR6.

The funny thing was that the front end just bolt on....

I don’t like the rear swing as I prefer a more classic GSX-R look.

Which Suzuki swings fits without modifying the chassis?

What damage has it done to the barrels ?

It will need a light honing.

As I have no experience with this engine I don’t know what piston to search for, I’m not building a race engine but as I have to replace and doesn’t know what brand to use.

I have been restoring air cooled Porsche and Ducati’s for more than 25 years and this is new for me

Cool project, definitely going in the deep end restoration wise :) Good progress so far!

From those who have tried it, is soda blasting a complete engine (without later disassembling to clean) considered safe or risky?

(not sure if ElVikingo is intending to disassemble, just curious)

HI I just soda blast before dismantling the complete engine as this way its cleaner and also one way to advance as before painting and reassembling again.

Some parts to be powder coated other powder coated etc...

    Cheers
