the colour is in a database somewhere at the factory, but it can not be determined from a position in the VIN.

Your VIN decoder has access to the database and can see the colour it left the factory in, and the options it had and so on. Stuff you can only find out if you have access to the database.

thanks for that, I will contact our Suzuki importer and see how I go.

I've had a few on some modern bikes & they were pretty rubbish compared to the more expensive brands. The software interface is great but the sensor is poor & goes out of adjustment constantly & sometimes doesn't work at all. They work better if you use a conventional sensor with them but I gave up & bought some translogic quickshifters. So much better.

problem with most other quickshifter brands they dont do them for older bikes

Usd are basically the same as the earlier conventional rwu forks . Worst part is undoing the bolt in the bottom of the leg that holds the damper rod. I always loosen this first , if the rod spins you will need a special tool to go inside and hold it  . ( I've only had this in one fork leg of about 8 I've done.)

in the utube video he doesn't undo the damper rod bolt at the bottom to change fork seals

he just undoes the top which is how i will be going with it.
