  1. Hello all. I’ve been told it’s better to run fully synthetic oil in a bandit b12 to prolong the life of the turbo. The turbo is a gbc-22 journal bearing. Been told the clutch would slip and if it does just put some extra weight on the lock up. I assume to still use 10w40. Tell me your thoughts or your own personal set ups for oil and oil feed for journal bearing turbos. Tia Alex.

  2. Hello all. I have a bandit turbo , it’s a 1216 with hayabusa pistons in. The engine is apart at the moment waiting for rebuild. My question is, what is the standard compression ratio for a mk1 hayabusa? My reason for asking is at the moment genuine Suzuki busa pistons are more expensive than e.g Wisco or je . From my understanding busa pistons drop the compression down to 8.5-1 ? This is not a race bike it’s just for the road, so looking for around 220-240 bhp only. What pistons are you guys using and where to get them? Thanks alex

  3. Hello all. I’m running 1216 cc engine with a Garette gbc22 turbo and I would like to know what options there are for external wastegates and what size for this application. Will be running 15psi max. Completely Standard head and timing so nothing special. I’ve experienced boost creep at higher revs so I thought I’d ask the question. Cheers.

  4. Thanks for your thoughts. So I gather the  cam link set up taking the port under the timing cover just gives that “belt and braces” flow of oil to the cam journals. Putting an inline rad on the “splash side” helps with head cooling.

Some peeps will be agast using the oil port on the side of the head as this is from the low pressure cooler circuit - my big engine uses this with no drama's so far but other than that I can't comment on longevity! As i'm using the below the barrel main gallery for the turbo supply, I don't really want to draw more oil away from that and the crank & rod bearings.

So there is high pressure and low pressure oil in the head.? Guessing high pressure is for the cams?

  6. Hello all. I’ve seen a few different ways of doing cam to cam oil feed set ups over the years. I’ve never done it to my bike (mk1 1200) and never had any trouble with it. Now I’m on a current build of a 1200 motor, it’s 1216cc 11-1 pistons / big valves / ape springs / Kent reground cams / ported , but is it really worth doing the cam links? Thanks in advance alex.

  7. Hello all. Going to big bore to 1216cc. Is it worth putting big valves 26 ex 30 in I think while everything is apart? Taking head to machine shop anyway. Putting 38 mikuni flatslides on. 12-1 compression. Road bike. Would just like to know pros and cons please before I go down that route. Thanks Alex.

  8. Hello all. Have got myself a dyna 2000 for my b12 mk1. Full advance timing in the instructions say 35-40 deg has any one set there’s different for better results? I have 1mm skimmed head /Kent reground cams / bit of porting/ 1216 big bore/ 38 mm flatslides. Any good advice will be much appreciated. Alex.

  9. Hi all. As of this morning I think I’ve done the bottom end on my b12 mk1. Don’t know what damage has been done assuming a full rebuild. So while I’m at it what’s best 1216 or 1276? If you could tell me your builds ie power/ reliability/ pros/ cons

your help will be much appreciated

    thanks alex

  10. Hello all. Are there any oil cooler upgrades available? I’ve seen earls do a extra wide cooler. Is there any advantage on using an-10 over an-8 fittings or am I just wasting time looking in to this. I have two mk1 bandits one tuned and one turbocharged both get hot sitting in traffic or flat out for to long. I am currently running aftermarket 19 row oil coolers on an-8. Thanks in advance alex.

  11. Hello all. I have a mk1 b12 it has a gsxr750 k1 front end and gsxr1000 k1 calipers someone has put on. Is there a caliper upgrade for these forks, reason I ask is that I’ve read reports that some prefer to put 4 pots on over the 6 pots. Should I go back to k1 750 calipers or is there a good aftermarket caliper? All options are welcome. Thanks Alex.
