  1. I was planning on using an Earl's 13 row cooler on both machines and I see that I can get Earl's anodized 14mm to AN6 adapters...I think that will be my route. Thanks to all, it was inspirational.  I'll send pictures of both projects when finished.

  2. Arnout, I was talking about the actual fittings going from the oil outlet to the hose leading to the cooler.  Same dimensions?  I have one Lockhart plate that I will use on my Katana but I want to put a better cooler on my 1150. M14x1.5 still?

  3. I remember seeing a few years ago a hardened  shifter part that made both shifting and getting into neutral easier. I'm finding my '86 1100 harder to get into neutral when hot these days, and if I make any kind of change I'd like it to be permanent. Anyone got a handle on this part? A "star"?

  4. Nice to see another slabside bacl OTR. I would suggest that the very best investment you could make would be a set of Pretech calipers. I know it'll seem like the bike stops just fine now. I know people will tell you to adapt (add name of off-brand motorcycle) calipers . Don't. Get the Pretechs. They're a world away from any DIY adaptation, and the difference in braking is not only dramatic, but easily manageable. I've had a set for years, and they're the single best change I made to a much-modified machine.

  5. I presently have a temperature sender in one of the top end side cylinder bolts on my 1986 GXR1100. In 2018 I am going to fit new cams and with them a top end oiler kit from APE. Is there another point where I can attach the sender, since the oiler access is the same place where I now have my sender attached?

  6. I know that GS motors aren't high oil pressure operators, but is there any problem when you fit a cooler to a GS that has been recorded? I'm going to use the oil filter diverter that came with my old Lockhart cooler to hook up an Earl's cooler to my '83 Katana.

  7. I have a 1986 GSXR1100 and I am planning on a mild performance upgrade. One thing I would really like to do though is to replace the standard radiator with an Earl's cooler. I'd like to know, since there's a lot of experience gained in 30+ years, what is the best size Earl's cooler to fit my GSXR?

Just go with the 4 pots! Cap'n Chaos posted a while ago how to do it on a std. EFE front end. Well, relatively std! EFE forks, Slingshot front wheel, Teapot discs and a few spacers. Look it up. But then, you might want to change the rear to a 17" too! 'Fatties' look good with modern running gear!

Do you have the link for Cap'n Chaos' conversion?

Try sintered brake pads, or a smaller diameter master cylinder.

I have no experience with 6 piston calipers, but I've heard they're not better but worse then 4 piston ones.

Sintered brake pads brake a hell of a lot better then organic ones, braided brake lines are also quite noticeable.

You advise a smaller master cylinder diameter - why? I was almost ready to go with a bigger piston...
