Rear brake caliper hanger offset issue

I'm fitting a pre 98 GSX750F wheel brake etc into a GSX750ES, everything seemed OK until I tried to fit the caliper on the hanger, the off set is wrong, the hole centres are correct but the offset pushes the wheel off centre.

According to the part numbers they should be compatible, question is how to identify which part is incorrect
