KATANAMANGLER Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I'm fitting a new set of RS36s and taking off an old set. When got the the old set dynoed a few years back the dyno guy told me they were a bit rich but they were OK. I think he was talking pish and they were in fact way to rich and he couldn't be arsed changing the main jets. I later found out his AF sensor had been broken for a year and he hadn't replaced it. When I stripped the top end The head was heavily sooty and the exhast always smelt like it was over-fueling. Suffice to say I have a new dyno guy. before I take it to be set up I wanted to canvas jet sizes. The old ones had Mikuni 134 mains. The new carbs came with 130 mains. Now ideally I would step down to 132 and so on. But I checked the jet box and I dont have a 132 set. So what I wanted to lnow before I called Allens was is anyone running RS36s on an EFE 1230. If you are what size of main jet do you have? Quote
Sheep Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Katanamangler, I changed my 130 mains for 132's simply because i read on the Mikuni site that when running a free flowing exhaust and air filters you should step up a size.I have a flowed head but on standard bore but it does run ok if very slightly on the richer (grey plug) side of things. This may not be enough info to answer your question though, sorry 1 Quote
berty Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Rs36's , 1170 , v+h , 30mm stacks , ram air twin socks . 130 mains - perfect brown and no bog . So 132 would seem more , than 134 IMO . Yep ,that does not answer your question either . Might answer someone else's though . Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 Thats helpful. I think I will run the 130 first and get a dyno run with a working AF sesor and see exactly how it's fueling but take some 132s with me just in case Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 I'll be sure to report back. Dyno won't be for another month or so. 1 Quote
