Stripped oil drain plug thread, thoughts on oversize plugs

You cannot repair a thread.  If it is cross threaded, it's ruined, it it's stripped, it's ruined.  The only option is inserts, or going to the next oversize tap.  You cannot fix a thread, you can with Alum-Aloy, but I don't think you guys have ever used that stuff.  I have fixed broken flanges on cylinder heads and machined them flat with that stuff.  I've also repaired cowlings on aircraft, some vintage , with it.  Very versatile, comes for use in many materials. ;').
