  1. I have just finished re building the the front brake master cylinder on the 1100ex and I am having an absolute nightmare trying to fit the dust seal/cap. I slide it over the plunger but can I get the bugger to locate over the top of the washer and circlip...no chance, it just bunches up. I have already destroyed one trying to push the thick rubber base down using a screw driver. I thought I had cracked it by using a deep socket that fits and pushing down but that doesn't seem to work either. Is there a trick or a special way of doing this, its driving me mad. Thanks again David.
  2. Thanks for that Kitkatman, I ended up getting one from Suzuki Performance in the end cracking shop and mega fast delivery...hope it sounds as good as it looks.
  3. Thanks for the reply's...I forgot all about the freight taxes and VAT. By the time the buggers have finished with me there wont be much of a saving I'll wager. Serves me right for being a tight arse.
  4. I was just about to purchase a V&H four into one megaphone exhaust system when out of interest I thought I would check out the prices from the states for the apparently same thing. The same exhaust from the U.S is over £100 cheaper. Am I correct in thinking the only differences between the UK and US bikes are a larger tank and in the states they are called GS as opposed to GSX over here. Thanks again David.
  5. Yeah know what you mean...did you have to re-jet your carbs for the Vance and Hines ?. They look really good I think, are they offensively loud or not to bad, I had a Marshall four into one on an ET years ago and that was loud...very loud.
  6. Just sold my Marving for my 1100ET...it was a really good exhaust, superbly made. The only reason I sold it really was because it just sounded a bit to quiet for my taste. Are you looking to selling your V&H then, is it the megaphone type or the drag type.
  7. One of my all time faves that 1978 GS1000 and in that colour...why oh why do we sell jewels like that especially to fund some soulless new fangled race rep, done it myself though.
  8. Have to agree Jonboy, the weather does play havoc with polished ally and chrome...the 1100 only comes out when there is absolutely no chance of precipitation and the temperature is North of 19.5 degrees centigrade :-)
  9. Thanks for that Rudeman, same over here but they are really thin on the ground now. One just sold over on your side of the pond for a really good price...but I faffed about so much trying to get a good price for shipping etc I was to late. I think if I am going to find one my only real chance will be in the States as its such a big place with a much dryer climate...I live in hope though. In the meantime I will probably get a V&H, I do have a Marvin on at the moment but it feels like its strangling the motor and sound a bit over silenced if you know what I mean. Thanks again David.
  10. Thanks for that Pedda, its a toughy and if its not right or its breaking up inside its an expensive cock up. To think people used to take them off and bin them in the early eighties to stick their Marshall and Harris four into ones on.
  11. Thanks for that Rudeman. You have got me seriously considering the V&H. I have a Marvin on it at the moment, but to me it feels strangled and very flat. There is a full standard system for sale in the states but its off a 1983 GSX100EZ and not 1000% if it will fit...although the part numbers are the same. Thanks David.
  12. I have a GSX1100EX and have been on the lookout for a standard four into two standard system forever but we all know it could be a very long wait. I have come across a complete exhaust in decent nick for sale but...its off an 83 GSX1100EZ. The part numbers are the same for the 81 GSX ex and the 83 GSX ez and have been told it will fit. But to me they look slightly different...straighter. Can any of you gurus enlighten me as to whether it will or wont fit. Thanks David.
  13. Can I ask by the way...what was the MAC pipe like, I have a GSX1100EX and was thinking of getting one but have read mixed reviews. What's the V&H like is it really loud. Thanks David.
  14. I really like that...GS1000's are a thing of beauty indeed.
