Yes its a bit of a mystery and thank you for the information regarding cams. The carbs are ultrasonic cleaned and rebuilt . the compression is within the spec's in the Suzuki manual. The exhaust headers are made by Devil in France. though the rear can is unknown. I agree its a big drop from 112 down to 78

Well the dyno has spoke and the result is arm wrenching 78bhp!! It ran well and quite cleanly but thats all she had on offer. I know someone mentioned ages ago the JDM bikes were restricted but has anyone any idea how. Is it all in the ECU or would the cams be altered profiles, etc, can this be sorted without spending another fortune on the 750 lump. The dash also has an annoying 'speed' light that comes on about 50 mph. thought it was the oil light first time and nearly soiled myself

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the colour codes used on a 1988 gsxr 750j. My local paint shop says the pearl white is no problem but need a code for the darker blue. the panels are too curved for his machine to take a reading,

Fortunately they are Nissin, I have a set of 6 pots from my old TL1000. currently used to prop the shed door open! I have fitted a 5/8 master cylinder now and all is good.

Ahh happy days, Is that Mick Bailey your harassing there Pete. You seemed happier on that bike than the 'Runt Racer'

So does this mean an 1100 crank, block and pistons could be fitted to a 750 short stroke (J model) motor ? if so has anyone done this?
-
Thank you Captain.

Can anyone tell me what size the front master cylinder should be on a 89 slingshot 750. the one I have is marked 14. but have been told it should be 5/8 (15.9mm) struggling to get a firm lever that does not travel back to the bars. the calipers are 1200 bandit.

Thank you Gent's for the advice, a bit more fettling then Mot and finally I can register the bike in this country

I have a Jap domestic market 750 j and am trying to sort the light before mot and registration. As a jap market is Right side dipping (same as uk) should be ok, but the bike was registered in Belgium for a while so lights might be Left side dipping?? Have tried then against a flat wall and beam pattern seems flat with no breaks or kick up on either side. Is there any markings that would tell me what I have fitted before buying more.

If you check the beginning part o the Chassis number it might help identify it. (though I obviously wouldn't post the whole thing on here!)

Can anyone suggest what fork oil and quantities work best on the 750 J front forks. I have stripped mine to change the seals, and managed to free off the seized top and bottom adjusters so could do with advice on basic settings. sometimes members find a different answer through experience than listed in the Haynes Manual. Cheers.

Is there a rear shock unit that is a known fit for the 88 j model . maybe from a later model(later K series) or even another make perhaps R1,R6, CBR,ZX6 etc. Looking for something that's been use before and proven.(might also be cheeper on Eblag). I know a new Nitron unit is about 450, but really on a budget with this one!

I like it, looks good but still kind of 'factory' not bodged. off to eblag for a mooch.

Has anyone ever tried putting an RGV250 seat unit onto a 750 j frame?
