  1. I chased this bike for over 6 years. Took some time to make a deal we were both happy with. It's a 1980 Nico Bakker GS1000 made for Horeon, a dealer in the Netherlands. Never been raced I believe, but made into a road bike. The previous owners all did some work on it, forks, wheels, body, etc. But the frame is mostly untouched and still has the same GS1000 engine. The plan is to make it look like a racer of that era and put my tuned GS1085 engine in, some nice RSU forks and Dymag wheels. Contacted Bakker for the correct fairing and seat unit. I'm told they still have the original molds. So we'll wait on that...

  2. I was able to source a road legal MotoMartin. This one originally was powered by a GS750, but was manipulated to house a Z900 lump. It was raced for several years and now was offered as a frame with Metmachex swingarm, aftermarket fairing + seat unit and made-to-fit Nico Bakker fuel tank with dual fuel cap. Not a fan of Kwaks or small engines... :D So my mate Menno helped out so a GSX1100 engine would fit. Took some work on the frame and engine head, but it fits!

    More to come soon... :tu

  3. „Back to the UPSSR“
In a distant past, the name Menno Hindriks was already a technical celebrity in our region. Planes, cars and motorcycles were then and still are, well into the 70's!, made on the assembly line. We regularly ride together for over a decade and this all-rounder adapts many of my projects. Enjoying his work and wonderful stories every time. As a GSXR enthusiast, however, the UPSSR creations appealed the most to the imagination. In the early 1990s, 4 trendsetting allroads were designed and made in collaboration with motor wrecker UPS in Emst (Netherlands). The 1st 2 with a GSXR750 block and the others with an 1100 power plant. One 1100 was destroyed in the UPS company fire and the other was sawed up and now only exists as a license plate. The 750s, however, are still there. 1 in crates in the west of the country and 1 went via a detour to Menno's neighbor 23 years ago. There the UPSSR was lovingly cherished and embellished all these years.
After reading great stories in, among others, the Kicxstart, my desire to own a UPSSR only increased. Plans were already in the making to make a new allroad. Until an unexpected phone call from Menno a few weeks ago. Due to circumstances, neighbor Harm decided it was time to give his beloved UPSSR to someone else. Something no one ever expected! Since my fervent wish was known to both Menno and Harm, I was welcome to talk about it. I gratefully made use of that and after more than an hour of drooling at the engine we quickly came to an agreement. So now I am proud to be able to preserve this piece of art!!!
Some specs: WP front fork, Haan wheels, WP rear spring, 750 block with machined head and other camshafts, handmade stainless steel exhaust system with BSM carbon silencer, divisible frame with removable subframe, etc.

  4. Didn't know that about chrome.
    Thanks for that. :tu
    Might get nickel plated then.
But that's a plan for the future.

For now I was thinking about a head-cooler and slightly bigger twin headlights.
Definitely changing the bars and weights, silencer and the stands.

You going to alter anything on it @Spike

Not sure mate. But always thinking about changing things.
Still have a 1216 turbo standing in the corner... O.o
Perhaps some PVM wheels, big tube forks and changing the colors.
Thinking of chroming the frame and the rest in black.

  6. Finally! After years of searching I'm now the proud owner of a Harris Magnum 4. I think the only one with a 1100W-engine.
Took me more than a few years to convince the previous owner to sell it for the right price. ;)
It was ordered in 1992 and build for a W-engine.
Still with the original owner who put it on the attic of his shed.
So we had to take it down first.
Quite a job, but came down without any problem.
Was already blessed to have the JMC, but now even more with the Magnum... (y)

  7. Oh, sorry. My bad.
Made some miles on it, but cutt out several times due to some electrical issues/gremlins.
Now busy with the Kat, but probably gonna strip the JMC down in the winter and some changes aswell.
    Now tucked away safely (y)

  8. Still looking for extra info on the bike.
Found some pictures on the web prior.
It shows there was some kind of fairing on it.
    Wondering what it looked like.
According to Leblowski there should be a picture of it here on OSS.
    But I can't find it.
    Anybody any idea?

  9. It's growing on me. ;)

    No, no big alterations.
Perhaps changing some parts and adjusting the stands.

For now just enjoying the bike and put some miles on it.
    We'll see what winter brings.

I was raised by the mindset: if you want something, you'll have to work for it!
Was willing to do it and already forgotten when looking at the bike. :tu

  10. Last week I finally had the change to drive the first miles.
    Damn, it's quick!
According to Russel it's a 1052 lump, with 1127 crank, Carrillo rods, 1127 cilinder bored out to 1216 with Cosworth pistons and reworked head by Roger Upperton.

Have some small plans for it in the future.
    We'll see.

Again a big thanks to Russel! (y)

  11. I traded 2 EFE's and a Kat for it and offered to bring them to the UK.
So export-papers were sorted and ready for a road trip with one of my best mates "Anton Heyboer".
Down to Calais to catch the Eurotunnel and after 4 (!) checks by military twice, borderpetrol and Police we finally set foot on UK soil.
Bit of a search to find Russel and his mate, but at last I could check out the JMC!

  12. A while back fellow OSS member Slabbyruss712 posted on FB he wanted to trade an EFE for his JMC framed GSX-R1216.
It would be a dream to own a bikes like this, because a while back I was forced to sell (housing for my disabled daughter) my Bakker F1 which took me ages to get.

So I took a gamble and contacted Russel. We got talking on the phone and managed to make a deal both of us were happy with.
