Thank you! I took a chance and took exactly 10mm off it to be conservative, it’s in there now and it looks to me like it will need maybe 2 or 3 mm more off it to work with a 10mm offset sprocket. And I discovered the GSX 1100 bolts are exactly the right length!! Cheers! Tom

I’m doing something similar, does anyone know exactly how much to machine off the b6 sprocket carrier, if using a 10mm offset sprocket? It’s a mk2 b6 rear rim in the stock swinger? I wasn’t sure the carrier would fit in my lathe now I’ve set it up carefully in 4 jaw chuck, which will work, but not done the measurements. Silly me can anyone help? Thanks Tom

Sorry about the black spaces I’m a tech useless, tried to put pics of the starter clutch on but fluffed it. It’s a GSX1100 one. Thanks Tom

Hello again thank you for all your help so far with the road race project…. I’ve got the v strom forks etc in, it all fits together nicely with a b12 front spindle like you said it would. So now I want to get the generator part off the starter clutch as I will run a total loss ignition and I want to get more ground/ engine clearance by fabricating a smaller cover. I’ve got the three m8 bolts out and now it looks as though i could either use a small belt sander to take the heads off the rivets that hold the two halves together, or perhaps put in lathe and use a parting tool to make a concentric cut in the generator housing, leaving the centre of that attached to the starter clutch. What please is the usual way?? Thanks Tom

Thank you Daz, yes I’ve decided on the DL1000 forks. I’ve googled the dimensions and it looks like the B12 wheel will go straight in, with a B12 spindle. But I looked at the calipers and i wasn’t sure, the calipers that belong on the early RWU forks look like 2 piston opposed to me, also the mounts on the forks are quite close together. I’ve ordered B12 fr wheel and spindle, plus R1 calipers. I’ll either succeed or fail! Then once I’ve got it all to work I’ll repeat on the second bike. Thank you very much for all your help. We will get those heavy buses out on track.

Thank you very much i would be in a lot more trouble than I already am without you folks. I’ll go for a B12 front and see what I can do with it. Thanks Tom

Ah now I’ve looked and I think the B6 front wheel has 290mm discs. Does anyone know of a Suzuki wheel that has 310s?? They will do just as well as 320 i think. Thanks Tom

Thank you yes I think the thing with ground clearance is, I ride on the road as well as on the track and IMO no rider is ever going to get the same lean angle on the road as in a track so the ground clearance requirement for track use is always going to be greater…. Thank you Dezza, do you know if a Bandit 6 has 310 mm discs or are they smaller. They are not a lot of money used so if they do I might get one and see how it fits. I’m using a B6 rear wheel so I kind of like the idea of a matching front?? Thanks Tom

Hello and thank you for all the help. When the build gets a bit further along I’ll post some images if folks are interested. Project has now expanded to two bikes, one EFE and one ES. Ok I’m going with Daz suggestion of V Strom forks, 43 mm and long enough. I just know I need to be able to get the front high enough to get enough ground clearance, Anglesey in particular is a problem due to the high quality tarmac. So now, front wheel. It needs to be 17 inch, and I want 320 or 310 mm discs, and ideally want to use R1 blue spot calipers. I know work will be required but does anyone know what will be easiest/ possible to fit?? Thanks Tom

Yes they are shorter, I think they are around 780 mm while the original ones are more like 850. I would love to know how to make them longer, don’t want to have to do some horrible cut and shut type thing though really. Any help appreciated.

It’s in early stocks, I think it will be ok, can’t be worse than the twin shock one I used to race! Thank you I’ve got a bandit 600 wheel on the way. Not sure if this is the right way to ask, but, forks: I can go up to 43mm but not upside down ones. I’m concerned re the length, for ground clearance reasons. So, are there any Suzuki forks 43mm diameter, that are the same length as the original ones? I know they can’t be any shorter as I had clearance problems at Anglesey on the Katana I raced. Any help much appreciated. Thanks Tom

I’m road racing 1100 EFE, and I’m allowed to change both wheels. I would like to run a wider rear 17, doesn’t have to be huge, a 4.5 rim would be ok i think. I can change the swing arm. My question is, is there an arm that will fit the frame, maybe with some work, then presumably i would use a wheel intended for that arm? And what about the chain run? And the shock? Thanks Tom
