  1. Anyone know manufacturer/make of these pistons? This is the only markings I can see, tops are flat with the angled clearance for the valves. Top 2 rings are 0.8mm thick, oil ring is 1.4mm thick. Thanks again

  2. Writing another list for engine parts for my Kat 750, and it looks like it has an 810? Kit fitted to it. (Pistons are 69.9 dia) Need to check bores for sizes, but if ok would like to just put in new rings…my question is, can you buy just new wiseco rings, and who from? I live in Perth WA, not that posting things is that much of an issue….apart from added cost!
    cheers in advance,

  3. Hi all, I have bought a few looms, in various states of dis repair, all supposedly for 750/1100 Katanas. Can anyone tell me if there’s an easy way to check? I think I’m right in saying the fuse box is different (hence the connectors are different)  Am I correct, and are there any other differences?
    Thanks

My next project on is turning a gs750 frame into a katana (with an air cooled motor), got the frame and there is a lot differences, headstock takes different bearings in my frame 48mm od top and bottom versus 47mm top and 55mm bottom, but this can be sorted buy different bearings. The lock stop is different (offset tab versus plates on the frame). Lower engine mounts tab and plate, loads of brackets and reinforcements missing, side stand brackets different, some kinks in tubes by the side stand and on the opposite frame rail. Swing arm pivot looks smaller diameter. Not got to this project yet so could be loads more, if I had to get a frame now, I think I would hold out for a gsx frame because this is going to be a lot of work.

This is what I was wondering.......might look for a gsx frame too! Thanks

I’m assuming the real question is “can I build a cheap Kat using a gsSeven’fiddy frame?”

Short answer is yes(but “cheap” is a relative term. )Try and find a “cheap” Kat tank .

I already have a 750 Kat, that I was going to put a B12 motor in. I was toying with the idea of buying another frame ( there’s aGS one advertised near me, hence the question), and building that into a pretend Kat, whilst keeping the real Kat as is/restoring when I can. The tank, is the biggest/expensive part (as mentioned), but most of the other parts are fairly easily available ( as copies), but that doesn’t bother me (too much).

It is more expense, work and hassle, but I’m just trying to gauge the problems, before I jump in and commit.

    Appreciate the comments, thanks

  6. Next on the shopping list is a pipe for the Bandit lump ( before I make the mounts to fit it into the Kat frame).

Questions.....will the Kat (750) pipe fit/ work/ be any good? Do later GSXRs (2000 on) fit? -sort of, no chance?

Dont really want std down pipes, although would do for mock up/engine positioning.

Thanks in advance for the replies (again)

  8. Hi

i did a search for this, but couldn’t find much........does anyone have any drawings/sketches they would share of mounting a B12 motor into a 750 Katana frame? Failing that, could anyone tell/advise on the best way to go about this?

    cheers
