  1. I have open CR33's with 125 main jets on my GS1000  which has a standard engine and a good free flowing exhaust

The bike has been on the dyno and the fuelling is showing very rich,   Plugs and the end of the exhaust are rather black, horsepower output is a fairly healthy 83 for a standard engine

When we reduce main jet size the fuelling looks right on the dyno but looses 10/15% power.

Can anyone give any advice on how to lean the mixture and retain the horsepower ?

I should at this point say that I am mechanically inept  so would appreciate any help you can give

  2. It's hanging delightfully Piggy,  what's all this with the OSS then ?

I thought you were a Zed man through and through.

See I was only mucking about when I had my Zed because I was a GT/GS/GSX man back in the day.

Your GSX looks great by the way. Here's a pic of my GS but not me sitting on it.

  3. Hi guys

Please can anyone advise me where to get a top end (or full engine) gasket set for my GS1000

There are some listed on Eblag but are they any good ?

Suzuki Vintage Parts only list separate items and it tots up to a fortune

    Any help much appreciated

  4. So back in the Day Suzuki reckoned 90hp for a new GS1000.

Now assuming that was at the crank, and possibly slightly optimistic, what do we think a good standard GS would make at the wheel on a modern dyno ?

Has anyone tested a standard one lately ?

  5. Hi guys

My GS1000 is fairly standard apart from a flowed head and 3 angle cut stainless valves.  It has a one off exhaust which is big bore and nice and free flowing.

I have CR33's fitted which are only a year or so old.  The bike is running very rich, the end of the pipe is black and requires no choke to cold start.

i am looking for any advice on a base setting and jet sizes, any help would be great.

  6. I haven't had my bike long, in fact I did 30 odd miles on it today taking the total to 50 miles since my recent purchase.

Needless to say I'm still learning all about it.

Rather worryingly I realised during my ride today that my forks (fully adjustable zx6 items) were not diving under braking (not anti dive) and felt rather hard when compressed with the front brake on when stationary.

My thoughts turned to super thick oil, super hard springs, an inner valve problem etc etc.

Then I considered my Micron fork brace ?????

Could a fork brace (poorly fitted ?)effectively reduce fork travel by 90% ish ?????

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.
