  1. I went from this pipe which was a minimum 2" bore through the baffle tube to a straight pipe that looks like the original Yoshi on the original Cooley bike but the bore was too small. Jetting is spot on for the old bigger bore pipe so I think I just need to go back to a bigger bore like a V&H or a second attempt at copying the Yoshi pipe but a bigger bore.

  2. Morning all

I'm thinking of buying a new exhaust for my gs1000.  The bike is running Wiesco 1085 and Keihin cr33 carbs, Dyna ignition and coils and is making about 112 hp.

Exhaust has been modified since the dyno run and the bike has lost the ability to rev. It is great to 6k but then starts to feel strangled and won't rev out.

I am currently re doing the pipe in a bigger bore to chase my lost revs but it has got me thinking about buying a pipe off the shelf.

I notice that I can buy a fairly heavily discounted V&H pipe at the mo so my question is what do people think about the performance of the V&H  ?  Not the drag pipe, the street pipe.

  3. Guys

I have a zx7r swingarm on my gs1000 which makes it 3" longer than standard.  I'm looking for another 3" and I'm concidering some kind of extender blocks/bolt on brackets (you know what I mean)

I'm slightly sceptical about the strength and longevity of these things.

So, who's used them and what sort of results have you had ?

If the general opinion is to stay clear of them what other options do I have to achieve my extra 3" ?

  4. Hi guys

Please see pics of my recent dyno run.

    Gs1000, CR33's, Wiesco 1085.

Bike goes really well above 5500 rpm and pulls clean and crisp to 9000 rpm and is producing a healthy 112hp, but feels slightly hesitant below 5000 rpm, not bad but slightly. Can be ridden round the town fine but feels a bit lacking in the grunt department.

As you can see a lean spike at 3750 rpm, I've raised the needles one notch but feels worse. Any opinions?

  5. So I'm close to re assembling my gs1000 engine with new 1085 Wiesco pistons.

There seems to be various opinions on how to run them in, some say gently, some say just ride normally but don't thrash it, some say 500 miles, some say 1000.

The guy who did my ref bore said don't run it in too gently because Wiesco pistons are known to glaze if run in too slow.

    Opinions and experiences please.

  6. Guys

I am looking for a big bore kit for my gs1000, I have been offered a set of new in the packet pistons and rings for a gs1100. The packaging is marked gs1100 and it is my suspicion these are American parts for what we would call a gsx1100.

If my suspicion is correct will gsx11 pistons fit in my gs1000 ?

    Ta.
