So it turns out I was wrong about the wheels on the 1100....I got VIN and engine serial numbers....and it's a J model....apparently they switched to those wheels for the J models.

Yep, do the deal Mack - how many times have all of us wished we'd bought something when we had the chance ? - this is one of those chances !
In the words of CC - buy buy buy !!
I'm working on it....some weird logistics to get them across border

Lot of parts are interchangeable, but just as many are not! I need a set of engine mounts (6 off) & can't find any over here in UK, so if you wanna part with a set
I think il hang on to everything....hard to come by bits for these old ladies....also il be storing them for prob a year.....after my 11 k is done this is next in line to get some love.

A 7/11??? There's a 750 AND an 1100! Best of both worlds. Why fuck about? Keep them standard. As you said, they're rarer in Canada!
Fair enough.

Alright boys! You've convinced me....il have to bring from the states to Canada....which will add to the price slightly....but they are super rare in Canada as well.....don't really think I can go wrong.....7/11 perhaps!

So a couple slabbies have fallen in my lap....the first is an 87 1100....apparently it was used for drag racing...it's been sitting a lotta years but it runs.....doesn't have correct wheels and no airbox....I'm no expert on slabbies so any thoughts or advice on what to look for before buying?
The second flame bike is an 86 750 that the guy raced for 5 years...it seems like the uppers and mids are wrong? He says it runs but doesn't presently have a fuel line hooked up as he only has use of one arm( waded his busa bad) but says it will run.
Would parts transfer between the two?
He wants 2300 usd for both....both have clean title....

So my 1100K is resto is well on the way, and the opportunity to buy a 1100M has popped up.
I know the nose cone and tail cowl are different but is everything else compatible?
Any unobtanium parts I should definately grab?
Love some opinions on whether I should buy it.
Cheers

Tried to use a 750 set of front fairings on my 11K year ago but gave up when I noticed how different they both are when you have the two together. The 750 fairing is narrower at the front (probs with fitting over 11 subframe) but longer where it joins the mid panels. You could use the 750 mid panels but (from memory) the 11 clip-ons fowl the 750 fairing (behind where mirrors mount). 750 clip-ons hang lower (beneath the top yoke). Think I had a fowling issue with the damper also.
Visually, you can tell 11 and 750 headlight fairings apart very easy. 11 has round ram air holes and the 750 have ram air holes that contour the edge of the headlights. Load of subtle differences. You can't use a 750 screen on an 11 and vice-versa, slightly different shape. I'd keep looking for an 11 K/L top fairing as too much messing to sort out the 750 unit.
Thanks for the detailed response Jaydee....very much appreciate it.
The....ears?( the part that the shield and mirrors attach to), of the nose cone are the major problem.....so my painter/welder thinks that he can cut the ears off of a 750 nose cone and weld them onto my 1100.
I am concerned about screen fitment and mirror position however, so further investigation is required.

My K nose cone has seen better days, lots of previous repairs done poorly.....so I have access to a 750 unit....and my painter says he can make it work by filling the exsisting mounting holes and creating new ones to make it work, as well as removing the the inner pieces and welding on the ones from my 1100.....just wondering if they are cosmetically the same except for the changes I mentioned? Any one used a 750 noseco e on there 1100?
EDIT: It appears I would need to use 750 mids as well?

Bolt spacing was 29mm on the repros, and 49mm on my OEMS....glad I asked....the search continues

Thanks, I've emailed for some actual photos and the bolt spacing to confirm they will fit.
Il let you know what the results are.

My Oem mirrors are shot, and I see on fleabay there are a few replica options.....was hoping someone could recommend a brand that they've been happy with?
I don't wanna get something that looks shoddy....and they all seem to say " exact OEM replica"

So I've begun the refresh of my 89 1100. It's sitting stripped, I'm taking forks to local suspension guy for internal upgrades, and some advice on replaceing stock rear shock.
Ive ordered an akrapovic full race system and a set of pilot powers.
I am planning on rebuilding calipers, and am gonna go with steel braided lines...but what are the best modern pads to go with for serious braking?
Any other advice in regards to brake upgrades would be great!
cheers

New Akrapovic still on a well known auction site, coming with a variety of cans - just checked. I rate them as having the best overall power and are the best made, very light too - about 11lb with the can.
Thanks Oily.....I appreciate your help once again....I wanna start putting parts together so I can be ready when the time comes.

As per DS - reworked forks, decent quality rear shock and front/rear set-up , plus tyres makes a huge difference - you can use the bike genuinely hard with no worries. Losing the heavy standard system makes a big difference too, you really notice the drop in weight, I liked the look of the standard twin silencers, but I'd miss the lack of lard and extra urge if I changed back. A well set-up Slingshot is great fun to ride, still takes more effort to hustle than modern stuff, but I bet you'll have a bigger grin after a ride.
Nice bike btw !
Thanks for the info, i will definately be switching the stock system out. Good to know about stability......with all the hype about the "killer k" from back in the day....the shorter swingarm had me a little concerned.
Cheers
She's pretty much done....Killer K
