Top out springs?

Recommended Posts

Just experimenting with my SRAD front end in my GSX750ES and found that if I completely remove the top out springs from each leg and use them as pre load spacers to maintain the gap, that I gain extra length in the forks. Question is, can you run forks without top out springs? I appreciate that every time the wheel completely leaves the ground high enough for the fork to fully extend that it will probably clunk, but on normal bumpy roads, would it work? The other option is to extend the damper rod at the bottom and use longer bolts but these would need drilling to retain the compression adjustment and it looks a lot more fiddly to sort! If it’s a complete no, no then sadly it’s a completely different front end needed! Thoughts?
